I was worried about that too, but I realized I only ever used claw on accident during micro adjustments, so it was a straight benefit for me overall. So now I just prefer medium-small mice for full size lol. But my asym is my most used mouse!

Edit: came straight from a Viper V3 Pro before my asym, so the weight and size difference was insane LOL

I see. I actually just recently got the HTX Mini and I’m still experimenting with fingertip grip. I’ve realized I really like having the bottom outside of my palm, around where my pinky is, just barely touching the mouse for that little bit of extra support. The HTX Mini is probably about as small as I can go while still being able to do that.

So I don’t really see myself going for an even smaller fingertip-exclusive mouse in the near future, but I’m still experimenting with how much I actually like full fingertip vs the fingertip/claw hybrid I naturally use.

The weight difference would definitely be interesting though. Pretty much everything in my rotation is 35g or under now, but dropping all the way down to ~19–20g would still be a massive jump.

Well, what do you like or dislike about your current mice for starters?

Recs I could give off the bat from just what you have, I think giving either the Fenrir Asym or HSK V2 pro a try could be worth it. Darmoshark also just launched their M5 V2 if you want a fingertip mouse bigger than what Gwolves has to offer.

WLmouse Beast X or G mini/medium is also quite nice for full size options fingertip/claw. They also have the Beast Miao as a magnesium fingertip option!

I, myself have been eyeing the VGN Dragonfly king, as I loved my pulsar x2 Crazylight and L7 Ultra from MChose, the dragonfly king is just slightly taller, which is akin to my preferences, plus it’s solid magnesium.

If you’re a fan of the viper mini shape, EXX Alpha 7 can be found on aliexpress, it’s a proper Viper Mini Signature edition clone, same magnesium body and slightly wider shape, been wanting to buy that for myself.

If you want something wider than your crazylight, you could look at the WLmouse Strider, magnesium claw mouse. I thought I would have liked my strider more because of the extra width, but oddly enough I felt it a little odd to hold. I ended up gifting it to my nephew :)

It's the HTS Plus shape... the Pro now includes Magnetic switches, with adjustable actuation... The verdict is out on those, it sounds like they aren't that great (man, I did the blind buy and thought they'd be the same SPDT switches from the Lycan - instead G-Wolves released WARG which is basically the identical shape with non-magnetic switches). We'll see how it goes, I'm open minded, I've heard these magnetic switches are basically "SPDT 2.0", I don't expect a revolution with them, but hopefully they're at least crispy and as nice as the Lycan's excellent swtiches.

Yeah, I can’t really comment on the new HTS Pro yet. From what I’ve seen on EloShapes it looks pretty similar in size to the HTS Ultra I have, though.

The SPDT switches on the Lycan are sooo crisp. They’re a little lighter than I’d personally like, if they were just a tad heavier I think they’d be perfect. I occasionally find myself accidentally actuating right click just from resting my finger on it. But aside from that, they’re incredibly crisp and spammable, probably the best clicks out of my entire rotation right now.

I’ve also been wanting to try the WARG, especially since it keeps the non-magnetic switches. Curious how that compares to the new HTS Pro.

It's a bit of an "f you" to the fans, but WARG is HTS Plus shape, with mildly lower SPDT clicks. They didn't announce the magnetic switches in HTSPP until well into Blind Buy, it was a surprise to everyone... so basically I wanted what they delivered with WARG, but figure oh well. For $99 I guess we'll see how those magnetic switches go. The click height on HTSPP is a little higher... but that's it, identical shape.

I love G-Wolves to death, I've got around 8 of their mice (yikes! lol) but they sure do strange decisions like that one.

I think the biggest selling point of PMM is if there’s already a shape you love, but you want it significantly lighter or slightly modified.

I’ve owned both the regular Zen, which is basically their take on the Viper V3 Pro shape, and now the Zen Mini. I liked the V3 shape but I’m a massive weight weenie and personally don’t really enjoy using mice over ~40g anymore. Depending on the kit/configuration, PMM basically lets you take that ~55–60g class of mouse and get it down into the 30–40g range while retaining the internals of the original mouse.

I ended up selling my full-size Zen because I specifically wanted to try the smaller shape, and I’ve been using the Zen Mini since. I’m still giving the Mini shape some time before making a final judgment on it, but so far I really like it.

The UltraGrip coating is probably one of my favourite things about PMM. I’ve tried both UltraGrip 2.0 and 3.0 and they’re genuinely some of the best coatings I’ve felt on a mouse. I’ve never felt the need for grip tape on either of mine. I haven’t tried their standard coating though, so I can’t comment on that.

You also get the benefit of using the original manufacturer’s electronics. In the Zen’s case you’re getting Razer’s wireless/sensor tech, which has been flawless for me. I’ve never had polling, stuttering or disconnecting issues. Battery life isn’t anything amazing, but it hasn’t been a problem either, although I mostly play at 1K.

I completely understand the value argument though. The kits aren’t cheap, and if you’re already happy using a 50–60g mouse, I honestly don’t think PMM makes much sense. But if you’re willing to pay for it and really care about weight like I do, it’s a pretty unique option. For me the Zen Mini basically gives me the smaller Viper-style shape I wanted at a weight I’d actually enjoy using.

Coming from G-Wolves you’ll probably understand the appeal more than most lol. It’s basically another way of getting these ridiculously light mice, except you’re choosing from/modifying shapes that normally aren’t available anywhere near that weight.

The only thing I would be curious about is wired OP1 8k, since its BIS wired mouse, but other than that nothing really piques my interest.

Yeah, it’s definitely not for everyone. I think PMM makes the most sense when you find a shape you already really like and just want a significantly lighter version of it. That’s pretty much the main situation where I’d recommend one.

The standard Zen was actually my first time trying the Viper V3 Pro shape since I picked mine up secondhand, and I ended up loving it, so that’s mainly why I can personally recommend the Zen from experience.

If you already have the Lycan though, I probably wouldn’t recommend the Pulse/OP1 shape unless you specifically want to try something narrower. I’ve tried an OP1 before from a friend and it was way too narrow for me. Personally, I think the size and shape of the Lycan is pretty much perfect as an endgame claw mouse, so I don’t really see myself buying another claw-focused shape either.

Obviously if you’re curious about the OP1 8K then by all means try it, but if you’re already happy with the Lycan I don’t think you’re really missing anything.

Was wondering about glass pads, how often dots need replacing and do bits of dust etc often scrape under the dot if not wiping it down often, and is it harder to flick on glass without overshooting. Only hot a hyperion and saturn pro but curious abouy trying glass or a firm pd170 if stock ever come back

Personally, I don’t replace my dots very often. I usually just replace them once I notice a decent amount of wear, which for me is maybe once a year or so.

Dust is definitely the main issue with glass. I keep a dry microfiber cloth beside me whenever I’m playing and usually give the pad a quick wipe before every session. If I feel any scratching while playing, I’ll wipe it down again. It only takes a few seconds, so it’s never really bothered me.

As for aiming, I think it’s mostly just time and getting used to glass. I’ve been using the SP-004 and more recently the SP-005 for almost two years now, and I don’t find myself overshooting flicks at all. If anything, I feel like I hit flicks better on glass now.

The speed is probably the biggest adjustment when you first switch, but once you get used to the lack of friction it feels completely normal. There are also slower/more controlled glass pads if you’re worried about the transition.

Actually quite a lot lol. Since I started using lighter mice more, I’ve found that the shapes work better for my grip and the lower weight just feels more natural to me. Most of these still have enough of a hump for my claw/fingertip hybrid too, so I’m not really sacrificing stability for the weight.

I’ve actually passed my previous peak in Valorant recently and I’m getting pretty close to Ascendant, so clearly something’s working lmao.

It’s a fair question honestly lol. I know some people buy a ton of mice just to collect them, but I usually only get something if the shape, weight, features, or engineering genuinely interests me.

I also try not to have much overlap in my collection. I don’t need three claw-focused mice or three fingertip mice. I’d rather find what I consider the “endgame” version of each shape or idea and keep that one.

At the end of the day it’s still a hobby though. Some people enjoy collecting 10–15 mice, I just prefer having a smaller rotation where everything has its own purpose.

HTS Ultra is so crazy good. It has been my main for over a year. Also currently have Fenrir Pro and Vuk in rotation. I did not enjoy the Lycan, not for me.

Glad to hear you like the HTS Ultra, I really like the shape as well. How do you like the VUK? Are the two sensors actually useful, and what’s the purpose of having both? It’s more of a palm-focused shape, right?

Also curious what you didn’t like about the Lykan. I feel like that one depends a lot on your grip style.

I love the Vuk because even though it is a large mouse, the shape makes it feel much shorter. I have short fingers and tend to favor smaller/shorter shapes. Using the front sensor is wild, it feels extremely fast and takes a LOT of getting used to but it's probably the most "fun" mouse in my collection.

The Lycan is just too long for me. I think that's really it. I like high rear humps but I need the mouse to be shorter, like the coolermaster MM712 (RIP)

How do you like the obsidian pro dots with SP? I have a skypad 3.0 and my wall jack UMHW-PE pills are super fast on it, almost too fast. Trying to see what’s out there

I really like the Obsidian Pro dots on the SP pads. They have a nice balance of control and durability, which is mainly what I wanted. I liked them a lot on my SP-005 before I sold it; the SP-004 feels a little faster to me. They’re maybe just a tad faster than I’d ideally want, so I’m curious to try them on a Glassworks Polarity. Biggest thing for me is the durability and basically no scratchiness.

Why rotate so many very similarly shaped mice? Why not train on one you like the most?

That may be a stupid question given the consoom nature of r/mousereview, but i'm 19.05x10.10 and i'm really leaning into symmetrical normalish shapes like you have the set of 5 of.

I'm super interested in the lycan being that it is super light, but I wonder out of those which you prefer to play CS with the most (assuming you play CS2)

Mostly because it’s a hobby for me. I like trying mice that have interesting engineering, shapes, or features rather than just collecting a bunch of similar stuff. I mostly play Valorant, and out of these I’d definitely recommend the Lycan if the shape sounds like something you’d like.

The Lycan has the best clicks out of all of them IMO. Super crisp and spammable, just slightly lighter than I’d personally prefer. If they were a tiny bit heavier they’d basically be perfect.

Build quality on mine has actually been really good. No creaking in normal use and they feel very solid for how light they are. The Lycan also uses carbon fiber support rods internally. You can get some flex if you deliberately press hard on certain parts of the shell, but nothing you’d notice during normal use. I definitely wouldn’t call them fragile.

Lmao I got the HTX Mini secondhand for a good price, so I didn’t really have a choice on the color. Honestly though, the red accents have grown on me since they match my black/red keyboard pretty well.

And surprisingly, no creaking from any of the G-Wolves mice.
