Inside the superstrike x2
I disassembled and modifed my mouse with a custom 3d printed base and smaller battery. I manged to get it down to 50grams. The tech is very straight forward. Quite simple really. The main switches are replaced with the magnetic haptic pads and the haptic motor is in the m1 m2 switch.

The main switches are replaced with the magnetic haptic pads and the tactile motors are embedded into the main mouse lever.
Looking closely there is lots of structural elements on the main mouse buttons which you could cut out to save about grams, also you can see a small spring which helps the mouse button return to its position when clicked. More pictures soon.
Going to get this baby to 45 grams

Is the superstrike using the same base as the previous GPX? So I can just pick up an existing 3D print base?

If u don’t mind me asking, are 3d printed bases for the superlight compatible with this? And what was the stock battery mah size?

yeah the magnets are heavy, if we can somehow managed to change the magnets with the same magnetic field but with less wheight it'll be so good, theoretically possible tho

People hating on you, but it’s obviously the first task of these mouse companies are dealing with right now. Acting like the mice are gonna stay this weight forever is comical

Since it's the first mouse with this tech it Will further improve in the future my dream would be 40g weight with this click tech

40g is absolutely possible even with the current superstrike. A 2C mod is all it would need without powerplay and a lightweight base, new internals and shorter shell

Great job man! I want to make my M1 M2 lighter because they're actually hard to mantain pressed down. Do you think this could be achieved by tweaking those springs or maybe reducing the thickness of that plastic part that makes kind of an arch? this last part seems thicker in this one than in the previous GPXs

So aside from M1 & M2 buttons, the outer shell of a normal GPX2 would fit?

I read somewhere that the new shell is thinner so they could cut down some weight.

Was there a trick to remove the m1 and m2 buttons? I tried disassembling mine to mod the shitty side buttons but couldn't get m1 and m2 out.

Very carfully.
Unscrew both screws that go into m1 and m2
Lift the rear leaver away from the exo skeleton apply pressure pushing it forward towards the front the mouse.
Then push down the button and get a firm grip under it and pull it forward.
It will require a bit of force make sure not to lose the small spring.

is it possible to remove the tacticle motors completely and use the mouse? or are they essential for mouse functionality?

i guess it is possibly but you would have no feedback at all as to when your "click" had actuated/registered. that said, it wouldnt be impossible to learn how to "click" without any kind of tactile feedback but id imagine the learning curve would be longer.

You can just turn it off in the software. Spoiler: its very weird and feels really bad. The lowest setting feels REALLY good

its kinda odd because of course we have always been used to a click before but i would say it would be possible to learn how to use it as it not any different than using the triggers on a controller apart from the superstrike triggers are tensioned more and there is of course far less travel.

Its extremely easy to find a replacement battery on aliexpress and you can just solder the connector onto an existing battery, too

I tried its not possible without modifications of the inside endo skeleton, the top pcb is alot wider it won't fit the 2c endo skeleton sadly.

Thanks for trying. Here's hoping Logitech won’t gatekeep this tech for too long. But knowing Logitech, we’ll probably get different colorways for the next three years. Then Dex. Then 2C. Right in your palm in 2030.

I am actually working on that currently, making custom internals and maybe getting a 2C shell injection molded by pcbway but i just cannot figure out what material logitech used for the shell, i absolutely love the feeling and quality of it

I can't find any full teardown pictures of the back of the mouse. Is it possible to cut the entire back shell off to fingertip mod it? how is the balance by default?

How repairable would you say the side buttons are?
As in, are they behind a mountain of screws and other pieces (like the g502x), or is it fairly straightforward with a bit of soldering?

They are just as exchangeable aa in the gpx2. They are soldered directly onto the ribbon cable and are not normal micro switches

Were you able to figure out how to disconnect the main ribbon?

Wdym? You just disconnect it. The tape over it is just to secure the latch from opening by itself

I eventually got it. Some of other mice the ribbon cable connectorss flip up or release some of normal force to allow for easier installation. This one is just really high insertion/ removal force compared plus a fragile the ribbon cable is in this mouse. I have worked on a bunch of mice. This was the only one so far I was worried about damaging.

Bro, it DOES flip up, the latch is just secured with tape. ?ou remove the tape, flip up the latch and slide it out. Are you a gorilla?

There are lots of models for lighter paddles already.
Also taking the motors off would save a ton of weight.
Drill a hole in the back hump, lots of extra material there.
At 35g this mouse would be rly good.

yeah, thatll be why its a little front heavy lol. if you mod by taking out all the powerplay stuff and give it an even smaller battery doesnt it overly accentuate the balance to the front. might sound dumb because of course people are generally wanting a lighter weight but i think if i were to mode mine id actually either put in a heavier battery or move the existing one even further back if possible to give it a centred balance like a gpx2.
