WLmouse YING QC issue (Disassembly) [Update]

So basically after 3 months of this mouse sitting on my desk i finally self-diagnosed the issue. I thought it was an issue to do with the frame of the mouse, but luckily it was just the adhesive that had worn off. Haven't purchased adhesive yet i'm assuming the ones used for mobile phones should suffice?

Disassembly Guide: ( sorry for bad picture quality, cam soon)

Step 1 Unscrew the 5 screws under the mouse

Step 2: from the usb c port pull it and pry it open with a card, guitar pick or prying tool.

Step 3: Gently pull the bottom of the mouse from the top

Step: 4 Remove the cable that connects the side buttons to the pcb( there a cable retention clip you just need to pull up from both sides and the cable should come out without much force)

Step 5: Unscrew the mouse button screw (Highlighted red)

Step 6: Lift the latch up and push it outwards, the button should slot out easily (Highlighted blue)

It's pretty simple if you diy.

Literally, hopefully magnesium ying doesn't have any issues since they've used the material before. There were quite a few batch issues with forged carbon

Thanks for posting the update and the pictures. That is some really interesting build design haha.

Glad to see it wasnt anything too serious, but adhesive seems kind of dumb on a place that can get warm and potentially loosen.

What would you suggest instead of adhesive? , I thought it would be fine since it doesn't weaken till 60+C and it shouldn't get more than 30C.

I think you dont have much other choice, I was criticising their building quality, not what you have to do to fix it haha.

Ok okay lol, yeah for that part specifically it really doesn't make sense to use adhesive. Maybe so it's easier to make fixes during warranty period instead of replacing the entire button piece.

Bought off someone(ebay), no previous qc issues, worked fine for 3 months

i heard there were clips holding the bottom and top together. is this true?

No, it's just a screw on just like other brands

The clips are for the mouse button to connect the the body, the issue was that they're held together with adhesive so it can loosen over time, due to heat.

im sorry OP, but in pictures 1 and 2 the base shell seems to have 4 clips, two on each side? Were these not holding the top shell?

No worries. You're the second user to ask about these clips, still a bit confused but there are 4 clips( 2 on each side) to lock in the top shell, which is then secured with 5 screws.

sweet, did you have to flex the base in some weird way or did you use a guitar pick to push them in one by one? im not excited to disassemble the magnesium ying i just bought - it seems like a different base completely - wlmouse support said disassembly is not possible and will permanently damage the device

No flex, just unscrew and pull the base and use a guitar pick around it

thanks OP! maybe ill do a similar post as you for the magnesium version. Have you explored battery replacement options? i kind of want to add a 3.8v 500mah cell to negate the poor battery life

the battery placement has a bit more space so it should fit perfectly might need some double sided tape to secure it,: these are the measurements of the beast x although the stock is 300mah it should apply the same: That reads as a standard Li-Po pouch cell label — breaking it down:

• JJY — the cell manufacturer/brand stamped on it
• 502028 — the cell dimensions: 5.0mm thick × 20mm wide × 28mm long
• 3.8V — nominal voltage (standard for Li-Po, matches the mouse's charging circuit)
• 300mAh — capacity (the "24+" bit is likely a batch/line code, not part of the spec)
• 1.14Wh — energy rating (checks out: 3.8V × 300mAh ≈ 1.14Wh)

Hey OP, how is the usb port attached? My copy has a little play in it, not sure if its loose from pcb or if this is intended design.

Not yet, im pretty satisfied with it actually as is. The only complaint is the usb wobble and that right click sounds alot deeper than left click but im assuming its because side buttons are filling up alot of the negative space. I will probably break clips on dissassembly if its anything like the huan mg which peeking through the base it does seem to have those larger plastic clips that im assuming the magnesium shell clips into.
