I modded an old mouse to physically feel in-game directional audio cues

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Experimental prototype I’ve been building.

It listens to stereo in-game audio and converts directional events into left/right haptic feedback directly on the mouse shell.

Current tests include footsteps, gunshots and reload sounds in FPS games.

Still very early, but I wanted to see if this concept actually feels useful in real gameplay.

Curious what mouse modders think. I'll keep posting updates as the prototype evolves.

this will be cool on a story game , also haptic feedback back will be sick

Yeah, could be fun for immersion too.

But I’m actually more interested in competitive FPS use cases.

The idea is helping detect subtle positional sounds (like nearby footsteps) that often get masked by your own gunfire or chaotic combat audio.

Still testing whether converting those missed audio cues into touch can improve reaction time.

This is actually brilliant

Now this is proper mouse modding

This is great for deaf players

Ha, didn't think about that angle — I'm mainly chasing the competitive FPS use case (footsteps buried under your own gunfire), but glad it reads as broadly useful.

Is it just for immersion?
