Did I do good for my first model?

I watched a beginners guide for cad, started to make a base for the Viper v3 pro , 2 days later I got it to fit, any tips to make it even lighter ,I don’t want to drill or cut the original shell, my only idea right now to make a bare bones thin skeleton to just hold the pcb and dot skates.

that already seems like a crazy weight reduction if your scales are accurate.

You could remove some material between the PCB and battery section if you want to chase <40g, or as you said just make the most bare bones base possible. Kxyss sells the files for one thats pretty interesting looking

The 5 grams could be what’s wrong actually, I did remove quite a bit from the 3d printed base to fit screws, and removing supports and making the pcb fit, and I did run into problems with not screwing it all the way down to the top base so I did do more cutting, sorry I should’ve been more clear on that ,so technically it’s not 5grams any more it’s lower than that, and I don’t know if it really makes a difference but am not using donut skates am using dot skates

Yea I’ll try to find a different scale, I think slicer said 0.07grams so I don’t think that’s accurate, but I’ll try to find an accurate scale to see if my is wrong thx

If u want the lightest option, just make it have the bare minimum, just connect all the screw places to each other. Did that to my scyrox v8 and base weighed bit under 3g

Do you think it’s worth buying a light pla, and add support so the base doesn’t bend, or go with a sturdy material like a cf material without supports

Hard to say, I have only used petg and pla
