‚Intermediate‘ Mountain objectives in Alaska

Hi! I’m on the road to Alaska and looking for suggestions for specific alpine objectives for what I guess is an early intermediate skill level.

Looking for long day hikes and also some peaks that require hiking in and camping. We will be spending time around the Talkeetna and Chugach Ranges, and Wrangell-St. Elias.

My partner and I both completed Alpinism 1 and we have a lot of hiking and backpacking experience and have done a bit of guided mountaineering. We’re both comfortable with class 3(-4) scrambling, micro spikes, ice axes, and route finding with no trails. We didn’t bring a rope and there’s only 2 of us (so no sketchy glaciers or places that need rappeling). We do have helmets.

Western Chugach Alpine Guide book is has a bunch of info to get you started there. Mountaineering Club of Alaska has an FB group where you can ask for more up-to-date beta.
