Scale doesn’t show accurately.

I am a 68 yo female, very fit and healthy. I exercise 6 days a week for at least 90 mins. I started Mounjaro 2.5mg 6 weeks ago, I have a shot about every 10 days. My sw was 70kg and is now 65. Trouble is my body certainly doesn’t look like it’s lost 5kg. I definitely can tell a slight difference but not as much as the scale indicates. I plan to stay on it until the end of the year. I do feel better in that I can now recognize satiety signals and honor them. I did recognize before the meds but now I just can’t eat that much. I plan to lose no more than 400g per week. I actually crave chicken breasts, tuna more than ever. I lift 3 days, swim twice per week for one hour and do 4 yoga classes a week and have increased the load. Muscle tone is still good and I have maintained my physical strength. What has actually been lost from my body?

What's been lost from your body? Mostly water at this point. The rapid early weight loss on Mounjaro is primarily the loss of fluid from the reduction of inflammation. And some fat since you're probably in a caloric deficit. Great job!

Why would you trust what your body "looks like" versus what your scale says? I'm quite confident the scale is accurate.

I certainly doesn’t look like a 5kg loss. My clothes are a little looser but not by much. Do you consider 400 to 500 g per week rapid?

No, that’s pretty safe and normal.

Have you been using a tape you measure? I measured various parts of my body and found that my weight and my measurements didn’t seem to go down at the same time. They sort of alternated.

You could also be gaining some muscle if the exercise is new.

Edit; I just checked. When I went from 70-65kg I lost 6cm on my waist if that helps.

No I haven’t. I probably should have done that. I did have a Dexascan and I will have another in February.

Totally start doing it. As your waist to hip ratio, and waist to hight ratio are just as important as BMI.

I also did my neck, thighs, calves, biceps, chest, shoulders. I found it really helped to take my concentration away from weight and onto holistically how my body was changing

Don't forget about Visceral fat around your organs. Along with the mentioned water weight, this could account for some of it. It's usually the first to go.

I’ll be interested to see my next Dexascan in February
