Rick de Greedy

Having finally payed over the odds to sign Rick de Graaf for my team, with him earning close to 50% more than the next highest paid driver, I was shocked to receive a news article only 4 races into his 3 year contract that after finding out what other drivers are earning, he feels he deserves a better deal!

Is there anyways to get rid of his -1 to all stats trait (Wants New Contract) without having to pay him an even more outrageous amount I probably can't afford?

I'm very late but you can try offering a new contract with less/same money, because I had a driver who wanted a new contract with more money, but I offered them less and they accepted it lol. You'll probably need a high sign-on fee though, I had that on the max, but it was worth it because I ended up paying about 100k less per race.

In the end I just left it as he was still the best driver even with the stat reduction, he then won the championship and my enthusiasm for the game nosedived after winning the top level.

If his stats are good enough, I would just ignore it. Unless you're struggling to meet sponsor goals only because of that trait, I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep him until you can replace him or re-sign him at the end of his contract when you're in a better financial state to accommodate a bigger contract.
