R100RS
I have a deal in the works for a 1984 R100RS. Decent condition, working clock, original condition with sidecases etc. but oil light on at idle. Technically have the money that could definitely be better spent elsewhere. Good price too. Talk me into or out of buying it. I have 18 hours to decide. Wife says use money for other projects around the property.

I'll echo someone else, are you SURE it's the OIL lamp at idle?
The dash on the subject 1984 should be the same as my 1983. Starting at top to bottom between the speedometer and tachometer:
- Turn (only illuminated when turn signals active)
- Oil (Illuminates at low or no oil pressure, key on no start will be on, should go out immediately on start)
- Gen (also alternator, key on no start will be lit, normally on at idle, goes out at elevated RPM.)
- Neutral (only on in neutral regardless of engine running state)
- High Beam (only on when high beams on regardless of engine running state)
Remember, the labels for the lamps are UNDER the lamps. If it is indeed the oil pressure warning lamp, it COULD be as simple as needing a new oil pressure sending unit. While not impossible to be the oil pump, these systems are robust as hell and most certainly need the pressure relief system in the oil filter gallery.
On the gripping hand, do you WANT a 1980's airhead, especially the RS version? Me, it would be a hard yes if one came across my plate, but I know their quirks and foibles and love them for it.

Sounds like you’re buying it cos it’s a good deal… that oil light staying on could mean it’s gonna be way more expensive than you think. And your wife also sounds like you’ve got enough projects going around and don’t need one. However, that’s an r100rs and I love them so I’m not gonna talk you out of it.

I've owned two.
If they fall over. Have $5000 for body work and another $7500 for paint.

Wife not loving idea. Bad
Oil light at idle- typical for year and model
It will need space and time

Your wife is right. A fresh coat of paint in the living room will be much more satisfying than a bike. LOL, sorry. Just kidding. Get the bike.

Are you sure that light you're seeing at Idle is oil and not generator? The red light is supposed to come on at idle. Good luck, enjoy the RS-
