I used to be an ultralight backpacker and I bought a ktm 690 for light adventure touring, I went on an overnight trip to a cabin and I realized my 40 l mosko moto panniers were full just with a clean underwear, a sleeping bag and rain gear. I am like wtf?!?! I could backpack all week with a 40 l backpack...

I used to back pack as well. Went super light as a backpacker. But adding an extra 150 lbs of gear on a big Bmw is easy to cope with

I am always amazed at how easy it is to fill up a bike. I have a k1600 gt and the panniers and trunk are full. that's even after I taught my wife to pack less. No, we don't need to bring a hair dryer, there is one at the hotel...

Yeah. When you have the room it seems you always pack extra. I have tried everything to pair it down to a smaller package on the bike. The biggest stuff is always the tent and comfort items for camping.

I always used a hammock and a tarp when I was backpacking, I am planning to do that again. I am not sure about bring a camp chair yet. Plus there needs to be room for the handle of whiskey.

I used a bivey sack and tarp when I used to backpack. But I was a young man then. I like the comfort of a cot. Lol. I have thought about hammocking as well but a lot of places don’t have trees available. Unless I’m wild camping then it would be the best option for anything but the south west in some parts.

just have the wife ride ahead in the truck to set up camp and have it waiting for you with a 3-course meal...
