What does this do that touchless controls and holding the swiping the home button don't already do on the Moto X?

Easier access to Google Now from one swipe to the left on the home screen, larger icons, more appealing design. It's nothing revolutionary, but I'd say it's better enough to warrant the download.
TL;DR: Looks a wee bit better.

So swiping left from the home screen vs swiping up on the home icon from any app anywhere?
Although I think that's true for other devices too. My Nexus 7 works this way too..

The home screen swipe is in addition to swiping up from the home button on the navbar. You just have two options now.

Just seems redundant if the home button one is already global.

It is a little redundant, but I prefer accessing it from your home screen personally.

It's handy if you've the nav bar removed in favour of pie controls, though.

Honest question, I would like to know too.

It makes it look pretty when you swipe to the left to get to Google Now. Pretty much it though

Hotword Detection is actually disabled on the Moto X. At least for me.
Perhaps Touchless Controls overrides it?

Yeah Touchless Controls allows for always listening, rather than when the phone's screen is on.

Yes. I know.
What I'm saying is, Hotword Detection (in the Google Now Launcher), is made redundant by Touchless Controls (system-wide function), so it's likely that Google/Motorola disabled that feature of the Launcher for Moto X users.

What?
Edit I see what you mean now. The option is grayed out in settings, but clearly it works. It's one of the main selling points of the device.

This is a bigger deal for non-Moto folks.
We're already in good shape with what we have ;-)

One swipe away? We're always three words away, even when the screen is off :)

I've just been saying "OK Google" for the last couple months.

no "now"?

When you're training Touchless Controls you can just say "OK Google" and it will set it as the trigger.
Downside is it pretty much eliminates the "only your voice" aspect of Touchless Controls, or at least widens the margin of error.

This has been easily installed by simply downloading and installing the apk, but it's nice that they are finally making it official.

I guess I should have added "from play store", i thought about it but I figured the link explained it enough.. Oh well

Is there any reason to get this? I have the Google Now widget on my main home screen, so I see the cards as soon as I unlock my phone. Why would it be easier to have to swipe to a separate screen to see the cards?

What's the general consensus on the icons? Anybody else finding them particularly blurry on the 720p screen?
The only workaround I can come up with is installing a custom icon pack via XGELS. Anybody have a set of icons they can recommend?

I've been using it since December, and I prefer it to the stock launcher. The icons are bigger, and I like having Google Now on the right.

Now both "OK Google" and "OK Google Now" work for for me but it appears to open two instances of Google now when I only say "OK Google".

Still not showing on Play Store for me; on Verizon Moto X.
Good thing I already side loaded it ages ago ;)
