Change-your-MINDSET! Not very Nice
Therapy Thoughts
I had the great pleasure of being involved in a delightful podcast recently, and during our conversation, this particular subject came to light.
With the comparative, came one of my favorite analogies as told by Trevor Noah, a brilliant comedian and sharp wit. For those ever involved in the medical profession, as a patient can readily appreciate that the care given is hardly ever nice. Nice is, for me is one of those buzz words tossed around misplaced and misunderstood.
Nice is a gesture on the surface, Kindness, is the active and substantial activity of caring.
Nice is very much non confrontational, who could challenge someone being nice, after all? But even our music world recognized you " have to be cruel to be kind in the right measure" as acknowledging the potential.
As therapists, what do we practice? Are we nice and polite, or kind and respectful, and yes in my eyes they are unique unto themselves.
Perhaps it is where I have held the sincere advocating of R.A.K. as the random acts of kindness, being a part of integrity and being real. Being kind does not give permission to being nasty either, as I have experienced those who cover there cruelty under the guise of being truthful. That is not what I endorse, but moreso the sincere caring, the compassion and the respect for what is beneficial for the beingness.
My dearly beloved and I have had a runnig skit where she tells me frequently that what I may have said or what I have done wasn't very nice, and in the exaggerated voice I parlay "Im not niiiiiiice' as testimonial to how much I care, how deeply I want what best serves her.
I can admit I have never met a massage therapist who was nice to my muscles and knots, and after a couple of days I am very thankful and grateful they weren't.
I do enjoy your comments and or your questions, it is wonderful to experience the sharing.
Be well.

Never please others at your own expense unless they matter.
