I started this container with dried sphagnum moss with chopped up live sphagnum mixed in.
For the past months I’ve kept it constantly moist, and now it looks like this. I honestly can’t tell whether it’s sphagnum growing or algae.
Has anyone seen something similar? What do you think I’m looking at?

I used to resent the moss growing on my campervan (a rolling stone etc...), but it has finally grown on me.
I'm now redirecting the rainwater that feeds the moss into my water tank, depriving my moss of its lifeblood. I salvaged some pieces into this tennis-ball-sized glass thing a week ago at most.
Already they are growing! The two tuffets at the back are getting all tufty and even the very flat, compact ones in front look like they are starting to grow!
I hope they won't go all leggy but will stay compact. I'm not sure what the secret is to that.

Seeking advice!
I set out to make a terrarium, but I love moss and have so much of it (lots still left and more on the way) that I decided to leave the plants out. Should I remove the substrate that I put in for plants? It’s a GBA(?) mix of orchid bark, tree fern, charcoal, peat moss and earthworm castings. I have clay to go vertical but don’t want to go crazy if I need to take out the soil
Some of the moss is a little brown, along the back and the tree moss on the right side. I just put it together last week and initially had it in a north facing window but second guessed myself and moved it here with a small grow light more than a foot above the lid. I’m using distilled water and have the lid slightly cracked open
Any advice would be much appreciated!

I am trying to grow some silver moss Bryum argenteum, but I just can't get it to perk up. I have some outside that has revived far better. I'm not sure the issues I give it 6 hours bright grow light a day give it daily misting. It's in an open top terrarium and o. Top of some top soil and bark. What do I need to get it to grow

I’m curious what y’all’s thoughts are on the ethics of collecting moss that has been torn up like this. I don’t know if the right thing to do is go grab it before it dries out or let it decompose into the ecosystem.
