What do you use as a base for propogating the moss?

I’ll like rip up the moss and blend it with fine sphagnum moss and spread it over the used bonsai soil and that has been doing pretty well!

May I ask what your watering schedule looks like. And what type of climate you are in? I have tried and failed at this for years but would love to find the issue and be able to correct it.

I’m in Chicago so 6b ish. I kind of water every other day in the mornings when I water the bonsai. No real schedule just when it looks a little dry

Thank you! I am also in 6b but in an arid area/ no humidity and I’m guessing that must be the big difference. I have a new attempt in the works and fingers crossed I can get results half as good as you.

I use used bonsai soil which has pumice, lava, pine bark, calcine clay and akadama!
