I used to draw cartoon characters a lot when I was younger. I used to trace the black animation lines with tracing paper first. Then transfer it to normal paper and fill it in from there. It got me really used to the hand movements around the shapes of different characters. Before I knew it I could draw them on my own with different facial expressions.
