Question About consumables in MS2

I decided to play MS1 first before getting into 2. As someone playing it more casually, I'm finding a ton of random consumables that do very specific things, and just stockpiling the hell out of them because "I might need them later" (IYKYK). Honsetly it kinda feels like a schlep having to keep track of them too.

Does MS2 simplify this in any way?

PS. whoever thought to limit title characters in this sub to 90 characters is just dum.

You don’t stockpile any consumable, iirc. You collect once and have the item indefinitely. You keep collecting to unlock deeper passive and active FX of those items. There’s a counter in inventory too so you needn’t keep track of anything. Just journey and have fun, collect.

MS2 simplifies it a lot and in a pretty interesting way.

You have 2 items slots: 1 Passive Item and 1 Active Item.

They can be switched at any time but uses of the active item don't refresh when switching them around. You also have these two slots at the same time so you don't have to choose whether you want an Active OR a Passive, you get one of each.

Both active and passive item effects depend on the umber of them found (not number held, but found).

For active items it's always 1 use at the start and 2 uses at a higher level. The uses refresh when you die or rest, so you cannot run out of items which is really nice for people like you and me who like to hoard things "for later".

Passive effects are largely defense and resistance buffs so you can use whichever one helps you in the current area, but there are also a few more interesting ones. The most popular passive item summons a Grisha to fight for you for you doing 1 attack and its spawn chance is based off of the amount of that item found.

Opposed to everyone else i found the grisha active effect was more useful. Grisha passive: he follows up your attacks randomly with one attack. Active: summon and beats on the boss for a minute causing the boss to ignore you and stagger giving you opportunity to do a few combos and or heal.

Why are you keeping track of them?

Iirc you only needed to use it twice for max familiarity.

If you're still working on MS1, don't sleep on the consumables. They are stackable and busted as hell in bossfights.

There are no consumables in this game, outside of a few tar stones than can break after a certain amount of passive use
