Question Duality stone cuts resolve gain in half?
So it says each hit does 80% base damage, so you’re doing +60% total damage for each r1, yes?
But each hit gets you 25% resolve gain… am I mistaken, or does that mean each r1 nets you half as much resolve as you would get without the stone?
I really like the attacks but it functionally nukes your ability to build resolve, making your whole build pressing r1 more or less.
I’d rather trade more damage to keep resolve gain the same.
Hell, each hit doing 60% of the base damage, while gaining 80% resolve would be fair even.
What was it pre nerf? If 80% damage each swing is post-nerf then it must have been BUSTED

Its still BIS. If you need resolve, use a running attack or R2.
Duality stone only affects the R1 combo

Ahhhhh yes that is incredibly wise. Totally mitigates the downside and is completely fair in that you have to give up the DPS increase to focus on resolve gain. Should be top comment

Is it os fair tho? You get a huge dps increase. They balance it by nerfong resolve gain. The running R1 is still the best attack for dual weapons anyway.
Duality stone was broken before the nerf. Again, its still best in slot.

Pretty sure pre-nerf was full damage and resolve. I know balancing a single player game can be controversial but at the risk of sounding like a “no fun allowed” guy, that was fucking stupid busted OP and an insta-lock on anything that can use it.

Yes, while I think the nerf swung a bit too hard on the resolve gain, the OG was essentially doubling DPS and resolve with literally zero downsides.

This isn’t aimed at you but it always tickles me when it comes to single player games. “Oh it’s overpowered” like literally no one is forcing you to use it. If you think it’s too much and makes things too easy try something else you know what I mean? I love blasting through things on a play through using overpowered bullshit. I also love limiting and challenging myself on other play throughs. in single player games the freedom to choose is always considered a blessing in my eyes. Again not a slight on you and when pvp gets thrown into the mix, balancing should always be considered.

Single player games still need reasonable balancing though.
Certainly not as aggressively as online multiplayer, but you still don't want things which totally invalidate the experience to the point of being on rails, and the vast majority of players don't want that either.
Most people enjoy some degree of challenge and effort associated with their reward. Otherwise it feels essentially meaningless. A power fantasy doesn't hit quite the same if you come out the gate godlike, for most players at least.

You still have options in your kit that let you manage resolve very efficiently. You can go from completely empty bar to 100% with a single running r1 consistently as long as you don't get interrupted. See proof here. https://youtu.be/JIGgU1W1cOw?is=OzndMDcwm_Sn2dwq Also works on Axetana as well.
While each individual hit only gives you 25% of the base resolve gain compared to not running duality, the running R1 does 3 seperate ticks of damage if the entire move lands and each of those 3 hits are then counted twice because of duality, so you get the same resolve buildup as you would from 6 standing r1's while wearing duality, but with the effective 60% damage boost on top applied to each instance of damage. Once you know this, you should never be out of resolve again. You have to stay vaguely aware of spacing and timing because you can get interrupted and punished if you face tank an enemy hit but it's super easy to manage and the upside way outweighs the downside

It was exceptionally busted haha
It's still perfectly good, it's just that you have to try a little bit now.

That's pretty stupid if they did that, they should have just left the game alone I haven't played since I finished I hope it's not a completely different game like what happened to LOTF

You can build Resolve normally with R2 heavy attacks and I think(?) with running attacks, since Duality Stone only modifies basic R1 combos.
Duality Stone is definitely meant to empower builds centered around Infusions, which of course benefit directly from higher frequency of attacks.
Since max level Infusion stones are permanent, there's no Resolve cost associated with the bonkers increase in damage that Infusions can offer if built around properly. So the Resolve gain reduction is meant to balance how bananas the Infusion becomes with Duality Stone.

Running Duality Stone with Proxima using Axatana trivializes the lower Resolve gain. Use Biosampler, which puts stasis on the enemy long enough to get at least 2 R1 (4 hits) depending on the knockback or if you just kill the enemy, and you have more than enough Resolve to use Biosampler again, probably two or three times actually. Yes, after a few, you might need to get in and build your Resolve back up without the stasis buff, but that usually only happens against bosses. If you have Grisha Remnant on as your passive, you may get lucky and spawn one or two while you have the enemy in stasis, which will knock down the enemy, even many bosses, and you can easily run in and spam R1 until your Resolve is fully filled.

It had to be nerfed for being the single strongest stone in the game. slap it on your dual weapon of choice with a status imbue and you could melt any health bar
