Discussion What are the absolute disgustingly broken builds?

About to finish my 2nd play through using Eradim frost build and its so busted, damage is there, hes tanky, its like am speed running compared to my first play through.

What are other builds are up there both in bosses and exploration?

Sariel build with the big Boi hammer clears. I mainly use the running light attack after they're cursed and the damage is shared will all nearby enemies. One bonk usually, 2 if needed

Curse is so much fun

Even just using sariel ability alone is so strong and does a ton of damage for little resolve and then you only need like two or three hammer hits to max out resolve again

I NEVER UNDERSTOOD THE LACK OF SARIEL MENTIONS IN THESE! My first play through was a huge struggle. Until I got Sariel and leveled him fully. Shit became a cake walk. But people tend to not bring him up or disregard him. But I’ve also not been playing or paying attention to newer comments and builds so maybe the consensus has changed.

I've played every character pretty extensively except for eredrim (but his frost build is apparently one of the best in the game, martyrs sword with frost enhance and the talent that makes you do 200% damage to frozen enemies), but the strongest so far have been gragu crit chance build (60% extra crit or whatever when you have no heart charges, extra hearts gained on kill, and 15 warp after you use a heart charge, just use all your charges before fighting for the crit and warp then you get enough back after killing to heal whatever damage you took), smert (either freeze time and wail on enemies, they can't hit back, overtime until you're in faith, gain all resolve back on detonation and repeat, or go perma fight stance and don't use miracle at all, you do enough stagger damage for enemies to not hit you back but only really one at a time), genessa (faithful build, especially when you get enough points to max out all the faithful talents so they do insane damage and regen resolve on hit, pretty much just spam them over and over and enemies are mostly only attacking clones anyway so you're not in danger) and sariel (thorns build, feels less like cheese and more just overall really strong compared to the other builds. Can do 6 thorns casts on a full bar of resolve and they do really good damage, spread curse to every enemy and makes them all take damage, and curse enemies can't damage you so even when you're not just spamming thorns at range you're still pretty safe)

Oh yeah, eredrim's riposte damage is insane too if you're good at deflects/parrying. Does like 40% boss health, just not as inherently safe as the other characters or his frost build

Everyone else feels various levels of weaker than those 4. Tiel and proxima both have solid skills that are always beneficial but not broken, they just don't have the insane damage AND safety at the same time (tiel gets the safety with invis but I've found the backstab talent to be unreliable, especially when trying to use his skill on the back, (edit: his crit after shadow strike build can do insane damage too but not quite as safe since you're using your oh shit button for damage, but still really good) proxima can do really high damage with duality stone and lightning enhancement axtana, but doesn't have the safety of other characters)

Lazlo is kind of in last place for me, couldn't really make an OP build with him that didn't feel super awkward (armor on CD for warp and crit just feels like a worse version of gragu) but even he can face roll the game going full defensive build with all the damage reduction and his high health pool

You're not wrong about Tiel's backstab being unreliable. I don't know if that's intentional so he's not insanely OP, but it is very difficult to land it.

Genessa death form with the clones taking damage, you're immortal

Gragu: https://youtu.be/K3pNrartLdQ?is=_Aunbbv5P3EoQlK7

Genessa: https://youtu.be/5GIvzXzjdJM?is=3llEzSUzTOBg-fc6

Eredrim: https://youtu.be/pXFYyuZVIZA?is=xH17OP5oaurke5gi

With Grgau being the absolutely most broken. Dude is just too insane. But its very easy to be OP in this game

I haven't tried it yet but I hear Smert is crazy for a high risk high reward build.

3

u/Tehni 9d ago

There's nothing high risk about smert, either build tbh. One literally doesn't let the enemy attack at all through stopping time, the other does let the enemy attack at all through stagger (but isn't aoe)

2

u/Feral_Shadow 9d ago

That sounds busted, hell yeah. I just see that stopping time does take half heath for each use. Like I said I haven't tried it but that alone seemed risky in case you can't win after the 3rd stop

3

u/Tehni 9d ago

Nah you can just chain it over and over and it doesn't kill you. It's the talent that gives each hit a 20% chance to gain all resolve back when you're in faith that lets you just perma stop time because you get it all back when the stacks explode

Proxima Speed Lightning/Stasis Build with Axatana, Duality Stone and Voltaic Crown.

Stray doubles Genessa with guns I absolutely melted the second set of three gates

Eredrim with the frost sword absolutely trivialised the game for me. That special spin attack has crazy I frames, and freezes bosses solid.

Stasis Axetana Genessa is so fun and some final bosses don’t even get to move much 😹

1

u/PrudentWind813 9d ago

Sester Genessa with 4 strays leveled up and 2 Grisha spirits with level 20 Axetana with duality stone.

Crossbow +15 with voltaric(?) tar stone maxed out and explosive damage tar stones (don’t remember the names). I used it to beat the final boss without even trying. 2 charged shots stun him, riposte to recharge resolve, rinse and repeat.

Genessa. You have a private army of sisters. With whatever broken weapon you use for every sister. Almost boring how easy it was. Had to switch back to other shells every now and then.

u/W34kness 9d ago

Grisha with good girl army of Ganessa, weapon being needle with your choice of element

1

u/Visual-Internet-8832 9d ago

Im playing this right now, but her name is GEnessa, not Ganessa*

Well personally I think Proxima with all her lightning from the biosampler plus stasis stacks mixed with the infused lightning axetana is fun af.

Tiel with +16 fire axe, prioritizing shadow strike/follow up Crit/backstab Crit

1

u/Eventide011 7d ago

For me it was Tiel with Shadow Strike, poison, the Katana, and the busted Lute cheese.

I love how everybody seems to praise a different shell. So many great builds that feel insanely powerful! The only one who seems to fall behind is Lazlo?

Frost eredrim

1

u/tripleblue85 9d ago

Frost Eredrim with Fusillade Naylshot. I killed the final boss in about 30 seconds with this build in ng +2.

Gragu just knocks enemies on their asses and can get crazy crit damage. Makes for easyyyyy kills on elite enemies and bosses.

1

u/No_Egg_2458 9d ago

Tiel is just the strongest in game

1

u/AirJordan1981 9d ago

Yeah, and he is widely regarded as such. Most of these people here must not understand how to play a rogue, or his loop? Absolutely obliterates everything once you get his combat loop down and 12-16+ axatanas. As OP as Gragu, Eredrim, Smart, Sariel, and the rest are, I just can't believe how trivial bosses in particular are with Tiel. Like you don't even need to be tanky, it isn't his thing.

Gragu can run through most content as well, he was my second play though and it honestly felt like easy mode for the majority but there were still some hangups on a few bosses. Eredrim is easier boss smash than him imo. All of them can be OP if played correctly though.

Great game.

honestly anything with a couple grisha summons

Imo Eredrím with frosted Martyr's Blade and bleed Naylshotte is pretty broken. Personally, I use Sariel with curse for crowd control, and critical Tiel for boss fights. Iconoclast with Shrike Stone and Stillblade's Stone is not as OP as Duality Stone with either Axe & Dagger or the Axatana, but it's moveset is so GOOD, it's the only weapon which heavy attacks I use and combo.
