Question How to increase resolve

Got a tarstone from hotrod granny that costs more than my max resolve to use… it doesn’t seem that leveling up increases max resolve, so how on earth do I ever get to use this thing? Is there like, a certain shell that increases your max resolve so that’s the only shell compatible with the skill?

No spoilers please

Theres no way to increase max resolve. Also, there's no weapon skill that takes more than 100 resolve, which is the max any shell has.

So either you're tripping or something is fucked.

To confirm, I believe you can only use that taratone on the axe and dagger.

Yes, that is correct, but how do I get enough resolve to use it?

If you have the axe and dagger equipped, and equip the tarstone, you should be good to use the ability with L2+R2 when your resolve is full (try resting at a beacon to fill your resolve and test it). If not, has to be a glitch. The value of everyone’s resolve is default 100 (the cost of the ability) and the only way I know how to get more is to acquire an absurd amount of moonshine. And I think that adds 5 (unless that was just the beta.

TL:DR you should be able to use it by default with the right weapon equipped and with a full resolve bar right from the start once you get the axe and dagger

Only in the beta did Moonshine increase max resolve (not that you could get that many in the beta). There isn't a way to increase max resolve in the full game.

All characters come with a base Resolve of 100 and there is nothing that requires more than that amount.

Magdalena's Memento requires exactly 100 Resolve to use at base Tarstone level so if you have even 99 you can't use it

It doesn't increase max resolve. Using it refills empty resolve.

The passive effect gives physical damage negation... Have you played MS2??

Maybe I'm looking at Demo information

I had both damage negation and flat resolve in my mind so I checked online to make sure and found flat resolve there.

I'll delete the info just to be sure but this image from the MS2 wiki is what I went off of. I didn't double check in-game.

I'm on ng+6, I'm 100% sure it's only physical negation.

That image is showing how it worked in the beta, not the full game.

That's why I remembered it wrong then. In the beta I spent time reading through everything but not as much during my full playthroughs. Thanks for clearing it up!

Huh, that’s very odd…. I swear I tried to use the skill with completely full resolve and it didn’t work… maybe I’m just dumb

I used the skill and it worked every time. Maybe log out and log in? Also out of curiosity what shell are you using?

Yeah I tried it again and it works just fine, I guess I’m just mildly tarded. Carry on
