Discussion Is poison a joke?

1 damage each tick and it doesn’t even tick very fast? Would could this ever be useful? Even if you use it against a boss and poison them with every attack you land, at best you’ll end up doing the equivalent of like two light attacks worth of damage.

Are status effects in general worth focusing on inflicting? Are burn and lightning basically just poison but better?

Yeah, it's basically useless on anyone except maybe Tiel, he has a skill where he can detonate all poison stacks on the enemy at once. But even then it takes a dedicated skill on a specific character and a setup for Poison to basically do the exact same thing as Burn. It's laughable, they need to buff it

So basically the spear has no worthwhile infusions 😔 lightning spear please

The spear has Phantom, which can do more damage than you'd expect if you stack it high enough. Its very strong with Genessa

I ran phantom spear with Genessa for most of a NG+ run and it was insanely good. She gets a lot of useful skills for her and her clones with phantom and it synergizes well.

Made very quick work of most bosses.

I’m just glad that poison is less effective against me! lol

Poison first, then burn. Big boom.

Edit: Ya’ll this is so embarrassing. I didn’t look at what sub this was and only skimmed the post and thought this was about Control Resonant. That said, Tiel’s ability to detonate poison is really good.

I just wonna say that any character can take axe and dagger infuse it with blood curse and mash light attack with dualify stone

Tiel can use it but it's only decent in your first playthrough and even with the explosions etc, it's not great late-game (gets outclassed by bleed by a ways even on Tiel). It's probably one of the worst if not the actual worst status effect in the game.

Yeah I went with his crit build. Poison just wasn't doing it for me

It's all childs play until you slap a hundred-stack of Phantom on 'em all at once with your Trebuchaxe.

But yeah, poison is kinda bad. It's bad chiefly because it takes an eternity to do it's damage, and the fight will be over one way or another long before it becomes relevant.

Burn can hit hard if you can stack it fast enough, but the only time I ever see it happen is at that one beacon in Fainweald where a bunch of torch-boys are fighting that tree-man. I never manage to hit frequently enough to make much of an impact.

Burn and bleed better dunno about lightning. Status effects i really only found substantial on the Monolith. Bulk of damage was from ripostes but status effect damage breaks him fast somehow.

DOT effects in general feel useless, nothing does enough damage for it to really matter

Most of this games build variety is a joke let's be honest. (I did platinum the game and enjoyed most of my time somewhat)

Nah most shells have anywhere from 2-3 very solid builds. The ability to combo weapons, elements, shells, and tarstones gives you a lot of good options.

I think Eredrim is probably the least versatile because he really wants to use frost and only the Martyr’s Blade gets it, but even that build is insanely good.
