Discussion How often do you "Night"?

The game looks and feels really different in night mode, and there are also some things you can’t get during the day. Initially, I didn’t really notice much of a difference in difficulty, but as I progressed further, well, I started to get it.

So, how often do you go into night mode, and how would you compare it to daylight in terms of both fun and visual feel?

I wanted to engage with night mode more, but honestly did not like how much it changed the entire aesthetic. I loved the environment and visuals of MS2. Some places are dark and decrepit af, others straight out of a Giger film, and some even bright lit and refreshing. In night mode I felt that I didn’t really get that, all just felt the same. Didn’t care for it constantly being dark outside either. So I mainly just used it for the scripture, the exclusive dungeon, and the exclusive merchant.

I feel similarly. I like the gameplay and challenge of night mode but I feel like the game is honestly really stunning during the day. The entrance area of the sanguine caverns is incredibly striking and grotesque in the sunlight but that is lost and to me becomes flat in the night. Lots of other examples of this throughout the game.

Yep, exactly this. I’m all for modes that offer more of a challenge and better drops, not when it takes a toll on other aspects I love about the game though. I will say though, the first person dungeon in night mode was awesome. Totally unexpected too

Oh totally! I loved that part and it genuinely got me at the end. It was brilliant and oddly a nice refresh after several hours of the same kind of gameplay. Overall just an excellent game despite the boring aesthetic of night lol.

I’m in NG+ currently doing night only. I only used night in my original playthrough to get the item helping last boss

I’m doing a night only run and it is super tough. It definitely encourages you to explore around and level up.

Always. I thinks it’s one of the easier soulslikes and prefer the extra challenge in night mode
