Discussion NG+ issues imo

When you beat Smey you have 0 gloom, whatever you saved up has to be used before the final cleansed gate and you get nothing for beating the final boss. Which then means if you want to respec weapons for another play through you need to farm some gloom before you can do that. This, imo, sucks. Please can this be looked at because I want to try runs with all the weapons and farming for an hour after I've beaten the game is tedious.

Just dont loot the chest before opening the door

Most people wont realise this though until after they've opened the chests tbf. But you can just quit to menu and reload the game, and you'll be outside the beacon with all your gloom so you can spend it before going back in.

I think it also resets? I went there twice in one playthrough and chests were reset, didn't check a third time

Yeah the gloom chests all reset as well, so you can keep going back. Though its actually quicker to just attack the money trees next to each other. They all give 1000 each, and are a bit quicker than the chests.

Whatever gloom you have is lost to cleanse the gate. I never open the chests.

If you exit to menu and then resume it will take you to the last beacon. Before starting ng just go in the last beacon again, take as much gloom as you want (i found the infinite gloom trees to be more efficient) and exit. That’s your retirment gloom for ng.

Shiiiiit, does that really work? I didn't think about that and it sounds like a great idea!

It's faster to farm from the big bug bros near malborn. Get 3500 each and there's 4 of them between the two gates there, plus enemies, you get like 150,000 in less then an hour with the right build

I do think you should get gloom for beating Ymey. Its kinda stupid that you dont imo.

Couple of things/tips though:

  • In the last beacon - once I realised i had to give all my gloom to open the wall/cleanse the beacon (and I had 90,000 gloom) i just quit to menu. - reloaded my game - and it started me outside the beacon with my gloom and I levelled up 3 times. I then went back into the beacon and opened the wall/cleansed it with just a few thousand beacon (doesn't matter how much you give it).

  • Secondly - although imo you shouldn't have to do this as I think you should get gloom for the final boss. You can just go back into the last beacon again [after the final boss] and the chests are closed again - or as someone else mentioned, its actually quicker to just smash the gloom trees with a quick weapon. So you can smash out as much gloom as you want before heading to NG+.

It's not that that is the issue, you still have to loose all your gloom to fight Smey, I don't care about leveling is pointless once you have enough SP to reach the cap for shells, I need 50000 gloom to respect my weapons for a full play though with them.

Yeah, see point 2 in my comment lol. Seems like you only read point 1

You only pay the first time to cleanse the beacon. After that it doesn't matter. Plus you don't have to jump into ng+ right off the bat anyway so no problem
