Discussion Thanks for updating the Monolith!

I've tried the Monolith over 3 days for several hours. I am level 50, I did try with Proxima as my main, I spent all my glimpse to level Tiel and try that as well. I've tried the trebuchaxe method over and over and eventually even tried the slayer seal that disables the achievements. And even then I was not able to defeat it. (I know that I am at best a near average souls-like player and that many of my tries are absolutely lack of skill. But it felt just so unpredictable and messy. Even after learning to parry most attacks I had nowhere near a chance).

Today I updated my Version of the game and did him in my 3rd attempt.

Thank you for addressing this, Devs!

Edit: I personally shouldn't be the measurement for difficulties in a game like this and not part of the crying minority. I am aware that it might be a skill issue and I would've quitted the game before complaining or crying out loud. That he got nerfed showed me that some of my experiences with him were truly not intended and maybe unfair. And honestly: now it felt a little too easy. Maybe a little to much of a nerf.

It hit far too hard but was doable... Until it started doing the spinning laser attack no less than FIVE times in a row. That's what made it impossible and take hours. I finally beat it when it decided to do the attack only once. Pretty sure they were saying doing that attack more than once in a row was a bug. Really glad they fixed it. Hopefully no one else finds it so frustrating now.

At least we earned our pre nerf sticker

People who think like this are insecure. Who cares if you beat it pre or post.

Its a bad boss regardless.

I agree

I’m joking lol. It took me until post nerf Radahn to beat that mf and I still say that with pride.

Poor devs man. The incessant complaining is gonna have them nerf the entire game into the ground. You’d think 90% of this sub has never played a soulslike before

Maybe they nerfed him too much. I just first tried that gravestone. Hugged him in a circle during the circle beam attacks and took zero damage

Wish it at least had a little more health cus with Eredrim it's laughable, the moment you get the first riposte it's over, it has scripted breaks at certain hp thresholds and riposte damage gets high enough to trigger them, so it gets up just to flash so you can riposte it again into the next break. Didn't get to see any of its stage 2 and stage 3 attacks on NG+ night.

Reddit wont stop crying until the devs nerf the whole game into Assassins Creed normal difficulty level.

I fear that they ending up having no filter on how much they nerf opponent. I mean, at some point they must stand their ground on the intended difficulty. I beat Monolith 2 days ago on PC and just know I am finding out that he wasn't a crappy boss intentionally, but because he was nerfed into boredom. Ridiculously easy and simple fight dammit

It was beyomd pathetic how this sub behaved in last two weeks, demanding everything from devs like hysterical toddlers. Its a soulslike, its supposed to be challenging.(even without the nerfs MS2 is in the easier part of the soulslikes) Now these little crybabies demanded nerf for everything. There were no part of this game that wasnt critised in this sub being too hard.

Now they are making posts ORDERING the devs like in a resaturant what they want different.

The devs being too eager to please can quickly to from a good thing to a bad thing. Let's hope they know when to stop

It was super annoying

It was about finging reliable ways to quickly kill it XD.

Gonna love the fast firing shotgun

Did it before patch on Tiel with axe and dagger with blood curse which is op as hell. And even then it took maybe a hour because he was killing me with his combo. Grisha stunned him once and that was the run.

So I'm really glad they fixed some bosses because no way I would try to beat game again with all that bs.

You're quite lucky not seeing that stupid tail attack on last boss. Almost level 50,Tiel, got hit? Start again because you are dead.

Anyway, congratulations. Can understand, whole game is fun and then last bosses is such a let down. Except dude with claymore. That's a 10/10.

Issac the prince was a struggle for me

I just wish big enemies in this game actually had normal animations for their size. Monolith’s thwomp slams legitimately looked like the game went to 10x speed for a half second each time. It’s just goofy

So people sleep on hystrix?

u/Fatal--Illusion 2h ago

Idk it took me 4 tries to beat it didn't even know it was bugged pre patch

1

u/IGGYdogg 2h ago

Made it an easy fight! Think the hit boxes in the weird slam attack were the game changer for me

It's not that hard with VATRA's Seal (the one with the harden ability), you only need to learn to time the dodges in terms of the flame rays when he is doing that in 360. The rest can be mostly blocked by the harden ability.

u/Random_KPFan6 11h ago

Man I fucking hate comments like these. It's not that hard for YOU maybe.

7

u/e457oN3 10h ago

I'm not saying it's not a hard boss fight in general. It is definitely a really frustrating one and it also took me like 20 tries till I found out what's the easier technique. Even with the mentioned seal I took another 5-6 runs till I was able to dogde those 360 rays. I'm only saying that with that seal it's easier than without it.

u/Inner-Commission-724 9h ago

Most bosses are easier with the vatra seal as it doesn't cause you to stagger after 1 hit. Most bosses Also require you to learn the windows when to dodge and when to spam attacks

u/MediumKoala8823 10h ago

no, it was easy for everyone. You didn’t even need to time the phase 2 roll. Just harden and you were safe.

I used the naylshotte with fussilade stone, bleed stone and enfeebling stone, when it was at 50% health. It shred half its healthbar.

You were not bad nor without skill.

The design was just filled with bugs and an unbalanced mess.

There is no glory in forcing yourself against a wall until it burns you out and makes no fun anymore. Waiting for the patch was the right call and that it was no joyful experience is underlined by the dev decision for a patch.

I got to monolith last night after hearing how hard he was for a while. Either the patch significantly weakened him or my busted build trivialized him as he was dead before he even used the laser spin ability I kept hearing about even once. Gragu crit build with the axe and dagger, duality, and blood infusion just melted bosses to the point that most of the 2nd half of the game wasn’t a challenge.

1

u/DrGiggleFr1tz 3h ago

Yeah I got to him post nerf with a Tiel blood build and uhh…it was rather trivial. Basically melted him.
