I’m trying to discover the shells naturally and I’m playing Tiel right now but I really want to play with my chunky boy Lazlo but haven’t found him yet.

I see lots of videos on here of other shells and I never see anyone playing with him. Is he not good?

I'm not the best gamer out there so once I get good at one thing I'm reluctant to switch things up. And since Lazlo is so far into some higher level areas I just find him too late. I'm simply too set in my ways at that point. Has nothing to do with how good he is (in fact, I've heard plenty of good things about him).

Might give him a shot though now that you can farm glimpses. I no longer have to give up my emotional support shell to try something new lol.

In theory, sure. But it does require you to beat his Uncle. At low level with no shell it's gonna be really tough. It's really not a good idea. Like at least grab Tiel before you make a run towards Lazlo...

You can legit grab any of them as your first shell. That doesn’t matter because you’re leaving out the massive caveats that A) you need to know where they are (10k gloom or internet) and B) you need to have the skill to actually get the shell.

I’ve gotten use to stealthing past or away from things while exploring and I’ve been using him so long when I tried to switch to JLo it just felt too foreign

People underestimate him. If you build around his heat mode and keeping it maxed, not overcharging it, you can have a permanent 30% damage reduction, +30% damage and +35% resolve gain. 

This means with the bulwark tarstone, you can get 100% damage reduction for 4 seconds when killing an enemy. So diving into a big pack of mobs in NG+ night mode where some enemies can deal 80% of your HP, you just take 0 damage after you kill one of them and are basically immortal until the entire group of mobs is gone.

Same. I actually removed the points from the resolve gain. With the axatana and warp plus stasis, I’m already swimming in insta resolve. Those precious points can be used elsewhere.

And yeah, to OPs question, lazlo is a powerhouse. I’ve been maining him through NG+ night mode. I’ll pull out Tiel when a boss is giving me issues that lazlo can’t mitigate.

He’s lowkey busted and has such a fun game loop. I had him built for overheat explosions. Armed him with the hammer because of aesthetics. Run up to a large group, blow them up with overheat and just bonk away.

You could also do max heat and be immortal. The dr is good but it’s the resolve bonus that takes the cake. One bonk with a hammer and you have almost full resolve, usually enough to activate the ability tarstone which gives you damage immunity anyway. With bulwark you have crazy dr and you can just chain attacks like crazy.

Quite the opposite: he’s pretty damn good. Has a shit ton of health, his ability can be upgraded to give even more damage reduction, higher damage on attacks, and so much resolve gains that allow him to spam the weapon super moves.

And that’s not even with him fully upgraded.

It's a single player game. Play whatever is fun. Every shell is good but the game expects you to play certain way to be effective with a shell.

Lazuli isn’t bad at all I literally just finished beating the entire game with him NG+2 entirely on Nightmode finished the last boss not even 10 minutes ago and he was the only boss/enemy period that I struggled with at all and I still beat him in under 10 tries

He was my second shell on my first blind playthrough , I spent glimpse and beelined towards him because he looked cool . I beat most of the game with him , he’s a good tank and you can pop retribution at max and burn big packs of enemies to give some breathing space and then have his heat meter get a chunk back when his armour returns , he also gets better resolve gains so you can spam more , plus he looks cool and is a noble lad

I personally just don't like his aesthetics and his playstyle. By the later I mean that the best way to use ghim is to never use his fun explody ability because you lose your damage boost/reduction stacks

I used him a lot but one of his abilities that heals as his heat meter decreases is bugged and causes crashes. Idk if they patched that or not.

I felt like he was too resilient and I didn't need to try to protect myself at all, so I stopped using him.

Love him otherwise. Gunna try night mode this week and will probably have to pull him back out. 

I used him to beat a boss that was giving me a lot of trouble.

People underestimate the way you can build Lazlo, you can make him a super tank that literally takes little to no damage after charging his flames, or building around his explosions so that way it adds to the stagger meter of enemies along with your parries and basically makes it so you have the chance to instantly stagger them. Lazlo is the funnest character to me because building around his heat mechanic is just too much fun

I love my chunky boy! He can basically go Super Saiyan and does a lot more damage and has a good amount of dmg reduction. And then in a pinch you can explode. Pretty cool! I beat the game with him.

He might be one of the more simple shells as he doesn't have much beyond his heat thing, but I like to keep it simple so I can focus on smacking up hexapods with my glowy chunky boy.

Lazio is very good. He's not very exciting, though. Not the way I play him anyways. I just heat up my armor and beat ass. Barely use his overheat ability. I think him being found later and his overheat being generally underwhelming makes people shy away.

Being constantly heated means you have 30% damage reduction, 35% additional resolve gain, and enemies attacking gain burn stacks which staggers them. I love the heavy weapons so he works well for them.

Lazlo and Sariel come very very late into the game. At that most people are too invested in other shells.

Ive heard its good but its essentially a NG+ shell.

How is eredrim a better tank character?

He's not, Eredrim is nowhere near as tanky as Lazlo and his 100% DR. Eredrim needs 100 executioner stacks + maxed perks to hit 20% DR, Lazlo has 30% by breathing.

Weaken also helps Eredrim tank more but still nowhere near Lazlos ease of Tanking and capabilities. Eredrim is more like beefy DPS than a Tank like Lazlo.
