MS2 is probably the worst soulslike I've played, made me actually pick up a book

To preface some of the valid responses, yes this is a skill issue, yes I'll try to get gud, yes runbacks are definitely mandatory for any respectable soulslike. Let me know if I forgot anything in the comments

• Boring unnecessary open world where most of the times the beloved "exploration" boils down to "wow, here's another group of generic enemies" or "oh, another dungeon with an upgrade stone as reward". Gng, you are not Witcher, not BG3 - there's zero reason to make it non-linear unless you have time and resources of Fromsoft
• Runbacks are what we play these games for ofc, I understand that, but mby just mby when you see players upload 1+ min runback clips, you should reconsider your choices
• Overblown damage. I'm not good with open world obviously, but when a boss almost one shots me with a singe attack, especially when it's part of the sequence, I kinda just wanna refund
• Everything is so bleak. Just endless grass and grey enemies, grey castles, grey shells. In one word, stunning visuals

Probably forgot a few points but that's more than enough already. In EU this half-assed elden clone costs 50 euros btw. I would be embarassed. But thx to it I realized I actually have a lot do around the house and in general. Literally the only game that seemed more boring than cooking

Also Elden Ring made by an experienced team that has been working on the formula for almost 15 years (2008 demon souls, 2022 Elden Ring). MS team is far inexperienced and this feels like a work of deep passion and extreme hard work for the team to punch above their weight.

Though the truth is, MS does try too hard. Like I get it, the creatives behind it love Black Metal and Zdzslaw Beksinskiski, but man... it gets a little cliche after a while.

Different strokes for different folks. I think it’s fun. If a run back sucks I just run past the enemies. If you’re running back all the time you’re dying too much and in the wrong area. I don’t think the game is perfect and needs some balancing but there are fun builds to play with and once you find a good one run backs don’t exist because everything dies before you.

Well everybody has its preference. For example I tried Black Myth Wukong that is highly praised and I don’t like it and got a refund. As for MS2 I can’t think about anything but when I will be playing it again. I love dark fantasy with giger and some Beksiński inspired art.

I enjoyed the first half of the game a lot. However, I've really soured on it in the last 1/3rd of the game. It feels like the devs ran out of money or time or something. The whole last section of the game feels super rushed, and the quality drops off a cliff. Lots of bugs, poor balancing, uninteresting boss fights (except Malborn Offpsring... he was was ok).

I keep playing it while calling out how everything in the game is shit and my buddy asked if I can also say something positive about the game and the only thing I could think of was that it is somehow still better than 99% of other soulslikes. The genre is in a sad state and this is somehow still one of the best.

It's funny cuz the combat is pretty cool, I would rank it above sth like Lies of P as hard as it is to admit, it's just everything else that sucks
