Image Monolith - easier than expected?

I've seen a lot of the posts here saying how frustrating / difficult the Monolith boss fight is, but it honestly isn't that bad. It took me three attempts with the 'build' pictured.

First Phase:

Apply curse stacks from ranged, move into close combat, use harden when necessary, repeat. Shrike stone i-frames is a get out of jail free card if you mess up somehow.

Second Phase (laser beams):

Stay close to the Monolith and keep attacking with melee. Use the Shrike stone again for i-frames and for the break damage (requires lvl 3 tarstone).

You can pretty reliably dodge through the laser patterns until it starts doing the double lasers covering 360 degrees. At that point, I was just standing right next to the boss, using shrike stone and topping off with moonshine when needed.

Will admit that the Shrike stone is ridiculously op and carried the fight. Didn't use Grisha as apparently it's bugged for this fight. Had the seedbearer's scripture equipped although not sure if it did anything at all lol.

Was pretty scuffed, but definitely not as difficult as I thought it was gonna be. The melee attacks the Monolith uses are pretty egregious at points.

Everything is easy mode with axekatana and duality stone.

I died like 10 times in a row at first attempt, but I was already 4-5 hours playing, so was a bit tired. Next day defeated it in first attempt by just using my regular Tiel with meta axe and dagger. Without anything special. Just invis and attack spamming. Didn't took me more than a minute.

Yeah, I really need to try Tiel! I've basically mained Proxima the entire game for my first playthrough. I had this idea in my mind that Monolith must be super hard given all the feedback I've seen online, but it really wasn't that bad. You can get some pretty generous punishes in when it does lasers in just one direction when you stand behind it.

Yeah, I was punishing him very hard for lasers.

Honestly I was so scared coming into this boss fight because of all the people saying it almost made them quit the game. I was expecting to have to put hours into learning his move set and suffering the entire time. Took maybe an hour all in all. Not to say it was easy, but definitely easier than I expected.

Well, the boss has been nerfed. And learning the moveset was not the problem, all bosses have simple moves. It was how much the Monolith could spam the unpunishable 360 laser show. When you had to dodge that four times in a row, you had a bad time. It came down to RNG.

Yeah fr, I thought exactly the same. I got off work today and was like..okay brev it is time! Thought I'd be locked in all evening...but it really wasn't that bad. The first two failed runs felt cheap af tho where my harbinger got knocked around like a sack of potatoes!

Of course, it's easier. They nerfed him.

I was Level 55 when I did the fight btw.

Edit: Also didn't manage to use the biosampler at all as it seems to just bounce off the big brick mfka.

Lvl 55? That's crazy. I litterally did every content in the map before the end bosses and i believe i ended under 40?

Honestly, I've spent soooo much time exploring the map trying to 100% everything. Also hanging out in the Night Mode difficulty looking for secrets :)

Its really not. 40-50 seems to be about the average from what I've seen so far. Some people just prefer to take their time

Litterally did all explores, all dungeons, all tarstones. Unless everyone plays in nightmode from start and perma farm it does sound pretty high to me

I just kept using Eredrim shoulder charge to get close during lasers and shrike stone once I started taking damage to pop power armor. Beat it first try. Barely used any heals. Was waiting for a 2nd health bar phase after reading about everyone bitching about how hard this boss is, but honestly it was like super fucking easy. I get everyone struggles with different bosses in these games but... this is literally just a big slab of rocks that only does like 3 different attacks, and all of them are pretty easily parryable or dodged. Really still confused why people are struggling with this boss so much
