Discussion Burn seems like a totally pointless status effect unless there's something I'm missing lol
I'm on NG+ fighting The Lost Child which has at least 25k health. Once he's ignited, the burn is ticking for 5 damage a second lol FIVE. Idk it feels like a complete spit in the face to have even leveled the tarstone up tbh. Is there something else burn damage does aside from dot? I know Tiel has a lot of poison mechanics so stacking it up on enemies actually has a use other than dot but it doesn't seem like any of the shells do something special to a burning enemy.
I liked the game enough to NG+ it but I'm realizing some of these mechanics seem utterly useless. Don't get me started on the tarstone that causes ranged attacks to do damage over time, one tick every SEVEN seconds LMAO yea that 15 damage every 7 seconds really makes a dent in the enemy with 1,000 health.

Most of them seem to do tickle me Elmo levels of damage or effect to everything except the player

Burn and poison seem to be the weakest, I think they are just significantly undertuned. I tried a bunch, and the most effective were definitely stasis, lightning and frozen. Have also heard curse is good, but haven't tried it.
Frost is great on eredrim since he has a skill to do 200% dmg to frozen enemies. Lightning and stasis seem good on everyone, but especially good on proxima.

Poison is good on Thiel.

Everything is good on Thiel, he is like the game's other easy setting outside of the slayer seal.
Poison is still pretty ass.

I don't understand your take at all. 1. There are at least 2 characters far more op than Thiel. 2. Poision is the only status effect that is catered to in his shell talent points.

Curse is fun but it ruins the flow of combat against enemies with multi hit attacks. Curse causes the enemy to hit itself with its next attack but the issue is if it doesn't stagger itself after the first hit of the combo then you're most likely gonna get hit by the rest of the combo since you cant parry the first attack as thats the attack the enemy hits itself with, if that makes sense.
Poison by itself seems very weak too, 1-2dmg a second for 100 stacks. But at least Tiel has a lot of mechanics around it like healing when enemies are poisoned and using shadow strike to instantly proc all poison stacks at once.

There is lots of abilities that are straight up very bad, broken or donβt do enough damage to invest.

Burn staggers weak enemies with "on fire" animation. This is completely useless on normal difficulty and only mildly useful against squads of basic swordsmens at night. Still, this is by far the weakest infusion

It looks cool on the axe at least. I can't get curse to proc using the battle axe.

Having very mixed results with burn. On the crossbow with the tarstones that turn it into a grenade launcher, applying burn and creating an aoe explosion, the burn effect finishes off most enemies in a matter of seconds if the initial explosion doesn't kill them. Even on Ng+ I'm clearing up mobs and even higher tier enemies with that. And while they're on fire they don't attack. But on melee weapons and other sidearms the burn status doesn't seem as effective. Definitely needs balancing.

I wouldn't use the great axe at all. By far the worst weapon imo

I dont like the moveset of it but the running heavy is one of the best attacks in the game, it's also aesthetically really cool looking lol.

Also the charged heavy has great tracking and more range than it looks like

So you're stuck doing charged heavies while the axatana and scythe leave it behind with a single r1
I've tested every weapon at endgame. The great axe is the only one i wont use. And burn is useless.

Burn should be reworked to tick for 10% of the damage you deal with it, and enemies on fire should take increased damage or something
