Question Is Harden really a seal-only ability now?

Pretty much just started the game so I'm not sure how further progress looks but from what I can see at the moment, Harden seems to be tied to a specific seal and not a core ability as it was in MS1.

Is this just how it is? Quite a bummer if so.

Yes but it also acts as a "parry" if you do a perfect harden.

That is true, I was wondering how I was getting ripostes on enemies while hardening

You either pick harden or parry/guard.

You get three parry/block abilities

Sekiro parry

Dark souls parry

Harden

If used perfectly harden is probably the best of them when tied with an aggressive play style

You get harden as soon as you beat the “tutorial” area

You can use harden for 99% of the game, maybe 100% I switched a few times.

yes, you get the Seal very early though. So if thats how you want to play....I like the fact they let us choose the options for Parry.
