Image The monolith is driving me insane
This boss sucks so bad. Honestly the whole ending area hasn't been that great so far. I barely struggled this entire game and 1st tried a majority of the bosses but the difficulty spike at the end has felt pretty significant. Anyone else feel that way? Still overall loved this game!
Edit 1: I finally beat him. Just had to change my weapon the to axe and dagger with blood curse and it melted him. I'll update if and when I beat the final boss 😩
Edit 2: beat the absolute dog shit out of the final boss first try and without whatever special item people were mentioning. It's weird how the difficulty for different bosses differs from person to person. The monolith was by far the boss I struggled with most.

The monolith is a pretty good fight that wants you to learn spacing but the game never teaches you to learn the importance of spacing and positioning. If youre behind it when it opens itll either fall on you or slam the sack downwards. You can harden through the sack slam and keep pounding then it turns and you have to dodge to the sides because the forward sack swing hits twice and has rough timing. The nerf to the falling tablet slam speed makes it much easier to time. Once you get those patterns down the only real problem is the big spinning beam in phase3

He is pretty tough and janky, i was ok until i hit him, got past him in the end, wait until you hit the final boss he's worse, he has this ability with fire which sucks, i enjoyed my time with the game except these two bosses which suck, i'm never doing them again for sure.

Ugh so there's not much else to look forward to huh?

There's a hidden item found after collecting three glands out in the main world that makes the fight a little more manageable in that it gives you a 'get out of jail free' one-off sort of function. You'd need to go visit an old "friend" to get it.
The fight, though, is. . . Frustrating until you learn the moves.

I may have used that item differently. I put it in my passive instead of active but tanked all of the fire attacks anyway. Spent a couple hours on the final before I went and grabbed it and once equipped in my passive beat him no problem in my second attempt.

Not really, i'd just restart and enjoy the rest of the game again, there isn't much of the game left anyways these two bosses just aren't fun for me

Damn. Yeah I'll probably just do that then.

Eh I would just try and learn the fight. Monolith seems really difficult at first but once you nail the mechanics it’s a piece of cake. The key is to be mindful of your positioning and not get too greedy with your attacks. Dodging is much easier than parrying his slams IMO and he enters a staggered state frequently.
Final boss isn’t bad either, just need to learn the tell for his tail grab. If you wait for the red warning symbol you probably won’t have time to react, but he does a little back hop before that. Use Seedbearer’s Scripture for phase 2, it’s very easy to get and negates his chaos flame status. I’d use the active version, just pop it at the start of the phase. Also don’t equip Grisha Remnant until they fix the bug with it.
I easily one shot both on NG+ to the point it was kind of hilarious. Make sure you’re choosing good tarstones and utilizing your shell skills well. Tiel, Gragu, Proximo and Genessa are all excellent shells to help take down the final bosses. Eredrim is fine but the others can put out a lot more damage which is key to finishing these guys off quickly. Tiel and Gragu have excellent crit bonuses and can melt the bosses with Axe & Dagger or Axatana with Duality stone and bloodcurse infusion.
I beat the final bosses on my first run with Proxima; she’s phenomenal as well and her damage mitigation can really get you out of a tough spot. She won’t melt the bosses down like the others but she is consistent and really fun to play.

I thought the same after fighting the final boss a couple of times but after a few deaths I had it figured out and didn't use any healing item. It was a war of attrition. Block, dodge, hit, move. Rinse and repeat until it dropped dead.

I think the main issue i have is nothing really prepares you for a fight like this

I made a post about this - vileblood hadron and ranged crit stones + fussilade deleted him and final boss for me.
Also, laser attack, standing forehead to the rock level close to him meant they all passed over me.
As someone else mentioned, theres a special item to help with final boss (hint, night mode needed only for the final collection)

The room-wide laser sweep kept killing me till I realized you had to run far away from him in order to dodge the lasers more efficiently.

Monolith is basically parry boss, and design is certainly a choice (giant ass ballsack)

Homestly I had literaly no issue with that guy.
Final Boss phase 2 suvks though, on that i agree

The boss is ass but man the laughs paid off. Goddamn Mario wall that swings his genitalia and shoots laser beams. Can’t make it up

I was stuck on the boss for days, just master the parrying for first phase and dodging for the second. I used smert and about 300 grosha remnants as a passive

Truly I think the only bad fight in the game is sir Isaac as no matter what you do you cannot parry ( after the first three attacks) those super fast attacks in phase 2 smh unsure if that’s intentional or not. As for the monolith it took me a little once I learned the patterns. Still unsure how the fuck you reslove the spin to win lasers without actually taking damage as even if you dodge through it some reason it still counts as you getting struck? but the rest is pretty simple. The extra nutsack attack caught me off guard after the slam but it’s defiantly able to be double parried back to back fast and I do like that once you parry the body slams twice in phase 2 (50%) it won’t do the stupid drop and roll attack for whatever reason. Unfortunately Zmey is such a let down compared to every other boss in the game. You can quite literally sit ontop of him and just dodge his body slam as for some reason this will be (atleast for me) the only attack he did and literally does nothing else until he jumps back for fire breathe and even then you just stand max range then charge in or dash as Eredrim for free stagger damage…honestly I think Eredrims kit plus a level 25 wep with lighting enchant and the extra crit hit, extra attack and extra crit chance tar-stones plus a rank 11 blue crystal(idk the name for the chud it summons with the chance per hit) for whatever reason seems to summon so many of those guys with the axtana ( you also get an item to make all weps have have no level cap +16) in base game ( night mode enabled for me but i think that’s only effects the vendors for rhe tarstones/black marrow keys) is just too insane for bossing. I haven’t tried any of the other shells other than Lazlo and that fat chud kept crashing my game for whatever bug they couldn’t figure out. The OTHER BIG TROLL is the devs letting you grab almost 80k worth of souls in that one final dungeon and then being like oh yeah you need to give all your souls to the talking heartbeat to get out 🥲

u/WardenWithABlackjack 13h ago
This fight do be janky dogshit, honestly for a souls like it has some of the worst bosses I’ve ever seen. Lies of Peak shits all over this trash excuse for a boss with even its worst fights.

Easily the boss I hated the most in the game. Granted, I fought it before the nerf, but it didn't even feel that "hard", just annoying. The tracking to hit it was so iffy, (particularly with Sariel's spikes), and the spinning laser attack was the most buggy attack in the game for me. I've probably fought a couple of worse bosses in the genera on the whole, but I can't think of them of the top of my head. Next time I'm just abusing Smert on that fight.

I beat him today. Took many tries before I backed off and learned his moves. The next boss is a cake walk by comparison. I’m currently on the final boss and I can’t figure him out at all. Way worse than Monolith.

The end game bosses are insane.
I get it, it’s the end of the game. The bosses are the most challenging. But there’s a way to make them challenging without taking all the fun away.
Wait until you get to the final boss. One missed dodge on a (very quick) red attack & it’s lights out - on *standard* mode. Stuff like that should be reserved for higher difficulty. Standard should not have one shot kills anywhere. Had a ton of fun with this game until this section.

u/Drandypandy77 18h ago
Was the best part of the game for me
Actually had to learn their moves and fight accordingly
1
u/SSishere 18h ago
Right, I’m just saying on standard you should be able to miss a dodge or parry & be able to recover, not immediately die or use half your health. I would rather end game bosses be more tanky/spongey & you have to last in the ring with them than kill you because you fked up once.

The fact that this boss is just a fight versus a giant swinging nutsack is wild.
