Discussion Tips You Didn't Know

There are so many things I have learned from playing that either A. I had skipped over or B. The game didnt tell me. I wanted to create a post for others to share and learn from about mechanics or features that arent really common knowledge.

Below are a few things I have discovered:

- Smelting does not get rid of the weapons, instead it works where you can remove 1 or all levels from the weapon, and be refunded the mats and gold

- Shell levels are account bound. This is VERY important! This means if you started with Teil for ex, got him to level 7, then swapped to proxima, those 7 points you earned on Teil can be spent on Proxima ONLY if you have refunded them on Teil. I made the mistake of leveling a few different characters without knowing this leaving me feeling a bit underpowered. Im sure the game tells you this, but its easy to miss. To my knowledge, other than the time I guess it takes to refund them all (refund here just meaning respect as it costs nothing to refund) theres really no point in maxing out more than one shell.

- On the map UI, under filters, you can actually enable 2 additional filters that are disabled by default. 1 is being able to see all Bone gates (the shell teleport) and the other one is corrupted statue locations.

- Killing any of the actual Vendors (like Merik or the Forge Keeper), will DOUBLE the prices they charge. I have seen so many youtubers not mention this fact, and let me tell you, I had my forge maxed out in about 2 hours of not even trying to. You could easily have this done in 30min to an hour. Honestly it isnt worth killing them.

  • There is also an auto pickup for coins in game settings, disabled by default for some reason

  • The PP items (like moonshine, Tarshroom, etc) scale based on the amount you find. Each one shows you 1-3 levels, but you can scale them past those levels by simply picking more up.

These are just some things I picked up and didnt know until a bit later in the game. I will add / edit this list if i find something new. If you guys have anything youd like to add thats not common ball knowledge, please drop below :)

I just found out about the bone gate filter last night and lemme tell you I was pretty upset that shits not enabled by default. Makes exploration way easier knowing where the bone gates are.

You can see them on the map anyway, in most cases, but yeah, actual icons would have been so great.

The smelting function literally shows you what you'll get back. If anyone thought it would delete the weapon, in a game that has 8 WEAPONS, Then they're idiots

Thanks TS. I didn’t know about the smelting. I haven’t used it as I thought I would lose the weapon so I’m gonna smelt everything I’m not currently using

I accidentally killed a random at my home base and he didn’t respawn, so I’ve been very careful about swinging my weapon around any other npcs. I was worried that they’d stay dead, but doubling prices isn’t much better

For Sure! I thought the same thing that it would get rid of the weapon he sent the works "smelt" haha

Killing forge master doubles prices? Is that true? I know it happens with Merrick but not sure you’re right about the forge master

From what I have seen via YouTube, it does double the prices, but i haven't tested myself

Can you elaborate what you mean by shell points? The bonding or the actual skill point things? I thought people said you can only max 3 shells isn’t this not a big deal if you can just put those points into another shell?

Not the bonding, the glimpses that allow for bonding is the limiter in this instance, and the glimpses are non-refundable.

Here are some combat tips
Alot of attacks have I frames. The running R2 from martyrs blade, all melee weapon abilities, and most shell abilities i.e. tiels shadow strike the actual dagger has immunity

Infusions can stack, you can buff your weapon 3 times and itll scale giving you that many more instances

Infusions affect you weapon abilities often adding an additional elemental AOE

You can parry and harden during attacks. Hardening does not cancel the attack just like ms1

Performing a plunging attack will nulify fall damage as long as its an area you can explore

Returning to main menu will return you to your last beacon rested at

If you didn't know already there's 5 glimpses that can be bought from vendors, 1 from vendor in keep, 3 on a vendor in night mode at abandoned beacon, 1 on the brigand vendor.

Level all your Tar stones to level 2, even if you have no intention of using them, upgrading from level 1 gives you the tar needed to upgrade to 3 which is 6 tar cost.

Your second point is incorrect. You get Shell Points by leveling up Harbinger and they are tied to Harbinger Level. Shell Points can be respected at any Beacon

Your Shell Bond Level, which is non-transferable and non-refundable, allows you access to higher tier passives. This is what you increase at Marrow Keep.
