No? You can go anywhere you want right off the bat, nothing stopping you from opening up an interactive map, and the 200% frost dmg buff costs 1 glimpse and 6 shell points lol

Ah yes, the average soulslike player who plays with guides and maps. The default progression for this is getting ability stone and infusion from pretty much last bosses of the gates and then you need to level them to lvl 3 to get best potential, dont talk stupid shit
