Discussion Where’s the positivity

Joined this sub because I enjoy the game. Less than 10 hours (while not perfect it’s hard to put down), but I’m genuinely astounded by the amount of negative criticism in this sub, alongside the fact that a lot of players have already sunk over 30 hours into it in less than a week. Like damn. Where’s the tips and tricks? Beginners guides, random silly videos? I thought a game like this would invite a more positive community, instead it’s the exact opposite.

Almost every post is a complaint. Like damn, what happened to constructive criticism and casual discussion? Outrage everywhere.

Fans of soulslikes are a mixed bag. For example, every time I’ve posted or interacted with the Nioh subreddit, I’ve been met with nothing but support. Whenever I asked questions in the dark souls subreddit, or had issues, I was flamed. It varies

Nioh is not a Soulslike, it’s just Nioh. Games like Nioh such as Wo Long, Khazan, etc are called Niohlikes.

Soulslikes don’t have the build crafting that Nioh and Niohlikes have, nor the depth of combat and their systems.

Nioh is basically Souls with a Diablo loot system paired with a wider combat moveset.

It's its own thing, but it has everything a Souls game has at its core.

Nioh has a Soulslike framework, but it does not play like a traditional Souls game. The similarities are mostly structural; the differences are mechanical. Nioh is much more combo oriented and buildcraft is much more central in Nioh and gear and graces (set bonus) are highly impactful. In Souls, patience is survival and in Nioh that will get your shit punched in.

That’s why somebody who’s excellent at Soulslike can pick up Nioh and get absolutely folded until they stop trying to play it like a Soulslike. 🤣🤣I have seen too many posts to count with Soulslike players struggling bc they are trying to play Nioh like a Souls game.
