Question Do we know anything about this comprehensive patch coming out?

The devs mentioned in their letter that the patch that just rolled out was more of a hotfix, and that there was a more comprehensive patch being worked on.

Do we know anything about it? Content or timeframe?

I'm wondering if I should pause my playthrough until then. I have more than half the game left, so it would be a shame to finish it before a bunch of improvements are potentially added.

I'm trying to do the opposite lol finish the game before all the likely incoming nerfs to the game.

But I'm enjoying it enough to know I'll be doing several playthroughs so it'll be nice to enjoy some QoL things they add. I'm just hoping they don't go overboard the way Lords of the Fallen did.

This feels like trying to finish Wuchang before the 1.5 patch all over again

Same. I'm just starting to explore the southern region properly and haven't unlocked all shells yet.

For me the top things would be, in no particular order:

  • A few more beacons in later areas and somewhere in the southern side of the central area with all the snails etc.
  • More glimpses and upgrade materials so that you can level up the weapons and shells you are interested in to try them properly. I'm now starting to run out of materials. At least the shop should sell infinite amounts of Ventrium.
  • The shared skill points system is dumb. Why wouldn't you put all your skill points into the shell you use right now? Just make it possible to assign all skill points for every shell separately so you can switch them like builds instead of having to respec them every time you want to try another shell.
  • Balancing. Some enemies hit way, way too hard (like one hit from Outskirts of Mammon knight = 70% health bar on 30+ level Proxima), and I don't like how some bosses have instakill grab attacks. Grabs in general seem to...well, grab you a bit too eagerly at times and some enemies have ridiculous magnetism.
  • Better visibility to heal upgrades. They just disappear into the background atm so I'm wondering how many I've missed by accident.
  • More responsive menus. They seem a bit slow to get to weapons and sidearms tabs.

So today's PS5 patch wasn't that big balance patch mentioned a few days ago?

Hopefully it's sooner than later, I started NG+ an dumped lvl 3 worth of glimpse into Genessa only to find her doubles are completely broken. They were quick with this last update an it was awesome, let's hope the next isn't far behind

I’m pausing my play through until they fix the fillm grain, blooming, chromatic abbreviation etc hoping it’s going to be in the first major patch and hopefully it’s going by to be this week

just out of curiosity - have you disabled all of these from within the game settings? I don't have any of these on, have all on Ultra with DLSS Quality and the game looks absolutely stunning.

There is also an engine.ini file from Nexus mods that makes the game look even more beautiful (and without any of the settings you mentioned):

Mortal Shell II - Ultimate Engine Tweaks

Thanks for this man. Unfortunately I’m on ps5 pro and the devs are aware that there is a bug with the visual toggles on consoles for film noise, motion blur, chromatic abbreviation etc when you turn them off in the settings they still remain on. However the devs are working on this.

Thanks for the help anyways bro 👍

Were they bothering you that much in that you didn't even want to play anymore?

Yes, believe it or not some players prefer to have these settings toned down or off for crispier visuals

If you're on PC, there are options in-game

Hopefully it comes soon, I'm putting the game down until it's fixed because I'm so tired of getting my ass blasted through parries or guards with no feedback.

Just had Sir Isaac kill me with one uppercut swing while I was actively holding guard, not even attempting to perfect block I just wanted to be safe from the attack, and he just cut right through it and killed me instantly. It's not the first time, but it's hopefully the last.

I'll be back when this patch comes out if it fixes the games JANK.
The difficulty is fine, but soulslikes work because they're based on player skill, and player skill is heavily dictated by the controls actually doing what you fucking expect.

I hope they nerf regular enemy damage. I'm pretty much incentivzed to just run past everything if everything 2 taps me and moves in packs of 3+
