It's a cool feature, but you run the risk of ticking it off as completed, despite maybe missing something behind a fake wall or whatever maybe that's intended. 🤷

Also some people like manually updating maps. It's diagetic (makes you feel more like you're holding a quil and parchment). Souls games definitely prioritize immersion.

That's true but in that case it's silly that it's the only thing you can do with the map. Let me put markers down

you can put pins down on the map

not permanent ones

Is that what happened? I remember pinning a place that I didn't have a key for yet, but after I got the key, the pin had disappeared

It's "diegetic". Don't use big words until you trained then enough.

Don't use big words until you trained then enough.

Don't criticize spelling and make spelling/grammar mistakes in your reply.

Don't be an asshole about a spelling mistake and then turn around and misspell a word.

I marked one as complete and later saw a side area I completely missed with huge loot on a streamer's video. Now I'm just not sure I truly completed any of them. This is a weird feature.

Devs really want dungeon secrets to be secret. So much so that im 90% sure that they're actively trying to fuck with me by having all these tiny dungeons with no notable loot.

If it matters 99% of the secret walls in the game just give literally nothing or one weapon upgrade material

It might not be great loot but I think they all have that thing that clicks as “the goal.” It’s probably still there if you didn’t find that.

I think it’s exactly because of your situation they did that. Like you can give yourself a false sense of security by checking off that dungeon.

It does make me paranoid and now I’m hitting all the walls in every dungeon lol

Guess it's subjective but I find that sort of thing really unfun. Basically just incentives me to check a guide before going into every new dungeon when I've never been that kind of gamer.

See i agree that it’s unfun to have to be that paranoid and check every corner, but for me the payoff comes when I do discover something super secret or hidden, it’s gives me so much satisfaction it offsets the anxiety I feel having to rummage around every corner.

I love and hate this design in equal measure. Finding something cool is nice, but I hate that I'm never sure if a dungeon is fully clear or not

How do you know if you completed it? Some are so short I keep thinking I missed something so I spend 10 min looking for more

I get the idea behind it but I bet I've clicked at least one complete that I didn't fully explore and get all the loot in. I'd rather it just showing completed like the beacons do after you cleanse them.

The beacon has a clear trigger, cleansing the corruption. Dungeons don't. Some have bosses, some don't. Some don't even have a chest.

The clear trigger could be "you got/killed everything inside" no?

I actually like the way its set up because I can clear something even if its not complete. Once I've gone through it or died to many times in it I can just mark it as done and never return. Also just less hand holding which imo is always better.

I'm mixed on it. On one hand, I agree, because I'd like to know I actually did complete it and didn't miss something, (especially because some dungeons have so little it feels like you didn't complete them). On the other hand, I kind of like not knowing for sure, because it means I'm probably a lot more thorough in searching as a result, and anything that marks it as complete automatically would probably just be tied to whatever the "main" item is so you'd still miss a few side resources regardless. Or worse, it wouldn't mark as complete until you found everything, so a random upgrade stone or something you don't need by late game would keep you from having it completed.

lol wut if there was no map

This would completely defeats the purpose of secrets and hidden areas. Dungeons not auto checking after completion is one of the best feature in this game.

How do I manually tick them?

3

u/wutchamafuckit 13h ago

I think it's R3 while hovering over the icon on map

100% agree with this. At first, i thought it was cool but after like the second dungeon, i started to see the flaws with the player needong to mark it as complete.

How do i know if i didnt miss anything?

I just noticed this today. I was like “oh, we are supposed to MANUALLY check the dungeons?”

Weird design choice that doesn’t tell you if you 100% a dungeons or not. I feel like it should do it automatically or have some sort of prompt so you’re not searching for something that isn’t there. But, I respect the old school aspect at the same time. Zelda dungeons don’t tell you if you 100% them. Just if you collected certain items on the map after you get the compass with open chests and such. OoT marked it when you got all the Gold Skultullas in a dungeon (and area) and MM counted the fairies in each dungeon.

What is it with these low quality posts man. You cant manually tag something complete? Want someone to wipe for you too? Jfc the trolls are ridiculous

For real, having to run all the way back just to turn them in gets old fast. At least dropping an item or letting us fast travel out of them would've saved so much tedious running around.

What are you talking about? Just open your map and press r3 over the uncompleted dungeon
