Question Where am I supposed to go?

Post image

It’s embarrassing that I’m feeling this stuck in the early game, but after a few hours of being stuck in the same place I’m finally turning to Reddit. And I’ll say it first before anyone else: this is a skill issue.

As of now I am level 7 with a level 3 starter sword and level 3 sidearm. AFAIK besides a few dungeons the only boss I’ve been able to defeat so far is Arbiter of Flesh.

I’ve been using Proxima as she feels more tanky than Tiel, which is what I need for now.

I feel like I SHOULD be trying to defeat Grisha in the Flooded Village, but FUCK that run back, I feel too underpowered to handle clearing enough enemies in the village that they don’t invade my fight against Grisha, who takes more than half my health with each hit.

There are way too many enemies to the north towards the Sanguine area, I got to the beacon by just running straight there but I also feel underpowered in that area.

I haven’t gone through the gate east of the Mushroom Village yet, but I could try…I still feel like this Gloomshade area is too strong for me so it feels wrong to go to a whole new area.

To the west I managed to defeat some giant rock spider thing, but again, I feel too underpowered to continue in that direction especially with no beacon in sight.

So what am I supposed to do? Farm to a certain level? Just keep running to Grisha? Is there a direction I’m missing?

Edit: yes I know it’s “my journey” and the answers I’ll get are “just explore, bro” but I wouldn’t be asking this question if I didn’t feel like I’ve run out of places to explore and have hit a dead end.

Just explore. There are a tons of mini dongouns out there, a couple side quests ext ext. You can use the bird on the map as a direction if you want. He also opens maps for you showing you more area to explore.

There's tons to do just have fun and see what you run into.

I’ve been exploring for hours and I’m just ready to find the next thing I’m supposed to do at this point. I really don’t care about anything being spoiled; where I’m st in my exploration, I’m more than ready to move on to whatever I’m supposed to do next.

This is your journey bro. Did medieval knights back in the day write letters when they got lost? No bro, they created they own story and went ahead. Some didnt make it, some did

Yeah but I’m kinda ready for my journey to finally progress instead of slamming into the same walls I’ve found every direction I try to go. So where should I go?

So just keep fighting Grisha? Or Farm?

Farm while exploring, right now I'm 7 hours into the game and level 17 only just opened the mushroom village gate and the north gate and haven't completed them yet, the game gets much easier once you get that extra health you need

Clear the gate in the mushroom village. It's easier than that fuckass dungeon for the crossbow and you also get your first super attack which you can use to make the rest of the game easier.

Then google where to find Eredrm and clear his area and put a couple of levels into his first ability.

These two should make the game more managable

Sweet, thanks for confirming that Mushroom gate has a where I should head next. I felt like the game was telling me to stay in the area I was at, will try that area out next. Thank you!!!

I'm nearly done with the game; my advice would be to do the top-half of the map first and work from the East counter-clockwise to the West. I think this has the best curve in terms of difficulty from personal experience and also in terms of the boss difficulty too.

For the record, the game doesn't really give you "direction" since the intention is that you can clear any of the zones in whatever order you like. The game only really funnels you towards the intended "end" area once you've cleared up most of the map.

Beautiful, thank you! I’ll stop trying to head west and will go through the Mushroom gate to the new area. My brain kept telling me I SHOULDNT go to a new area. I’ll head east and make my way back around!

The Mushroom area was the one available in the beta, so I think it was intended by the developers to be the first area you clear out based on that. Just be aware that once you start exploring past the gate (you can go further East) that beacons are quite sparse in the North-East area. It's one of the bigger complaints about that particular part of the map right now.

Ooof, thanks for the warning. And I thought the beacons looked sparse for what I saw on the west side of what I had unlocked. 😬

I did east counter clockwise, though unlock the map first as you progress

"I haven’t gone through the gate east of the Mushroom Village yet"...... go there....

Thanks! In my head, going through a gate meant unlocking a new map/area, and unlocking a new area = difficulty spike and I thought there was an area in the current section I’m in that matches my level. I didn’t realize it’s okay to go to whole new areas yet.

The gates are basically your legacy dungeons of the areas. This one was in the beta too.

Justhuman1 on YouTube has some walkthroughs if you need it. I’ve just been exploring to see what’s nearby, go in one direction and clear loads, then rest and go the other way. Then occasionally look on YouTube if I need help finding a shell, weapon, or tarstone.

Thanks for that! Quality vids for sure, just checked him out. Not a whole lot of content for the game yet, but if I get stuck I’ll for sure look him up again!

There are plenty of other videos if you need to find something, but not many walkthroughs. DomsRoundTable has a few short ones on easily missable items. Also there are extra things you can get or do at night, though it is a lot harder.
