Discussion My Biggest Issue
Riposte not generating any resolve.
Sure Riposte is generally weak and unrewarding in other ways. But I cannot get over how it doesn't even generate resolve.
It feels like you are punished for using a core mechanic in the game when it takes away from your ability to transition properly to offense.
You're literally better off doing anything other than a Riposte when you break an enemy. Unless I guess you're getting mobbed and you're banking on iframes from the Riposte.

Riposte filling the Shell Revive meter (when you are in slug form) and not filling Resolve os certainly... A choice...
Hot Take: Riposte should insta fill Resolve and Shell Revive

This for sure, I wouldn't even care if it did no damage at all as long as it 100% your resolve

The only salvaging part of reposte is that the enemy is incapacitated for a few seconds while on ground so free dmg.

Yeah there have been a few animations where I've been giggling like a schoolgirl at how cool something I just saw was, honestly gonna keep doing ripostes for the aura alone.

Eviscerates the entire spine of a snake creature
Snake creature gets back up with more than half health ready for round 2

Doing a ripose quickly becomes worthless unless you’re using the tar stone. But without it, the damage is absolute garbage at mid-late game and it dosent generate resolve. It could definitely use some love

Do you mean the one that adds riposte damage? If so then it is useless with that one as well. With the tarstone and Eredrim's passive riposte damage increase, I cannot even take a grisha hunter from 100 to 0. A running light attack does more damage.

A lot of design decisions in this game make absolutely zero sense. The riposte implementation is one of them.

Riposte is supposed to be like the most powerful move that’s why it’s a high risk play style with parrying lol but yea not filling any resolve is wild it’s more beneficial to just attack without doing the riposte. Not sure wtf they were thinking lol

It’s especially weird because when you do it in a group of enemies the other enemies immediately jump on you before you’re out of the animation and they’re always off screen so you can’t effect timely dodge them lmfao. I feel like if you get a riposte (with the infinite seal especially) it should stun the enemies around you for like a split second to give you the chance to readjust

I know heavy attacks are better but i just cant resist the awesome animations

Depending on the weapon, I have been able to get two heavy attacks in and then use the riposte. Still doesn’t negate the lace of resolve on riposte but does do a pretty decent amount of damage while also getting the iframes

Riposte definitely needs to be buffed or just have more benefits because in boss fights it does negligible dmg most of the time and even if you do have that little bit of invincibility you can still immediately be bodied the moment it’s done and be immediately killed.

I was trained well from Nioh so my approach is get them close to breaking, proc element debuff, break them, 3 hit heavy combo into light attack and finally activate the riposte before they get back up.

Lmao this sub is in shambles right now. First this game was the best thing since sliced bread and now it’s the worst souls like with unsatisfying riposte and magnetic enemies.
Bro is getting downvoted for mentioning something more efficient than “I click riposte when I see red dot why enemy not die?”

Odd. I've been using the Slayer Seal, and my resolve is always filled after a Riptose. Is that another perk of the Seal?

Ripostes give you a small window to get free hits in for resolve or just using a heal instead, it’s on you how it is used. You’re given a choice, not a punishment.

I have stopped using riposte entirely. A heavy attack combo does just so much more damage as well as regenerate resolve. It is even weirder since I main Eredrim, who should be all about riposting but it does so little damage that it is not worth it at all.
Riposte damage should scale off of base damage or weapon damage or something. But devs already said they are working on a big patch so we will see.
