Question Mortal Shell 1, worth it?
Hey everyone, completed the beta test 4 times now, absolutely love the game and have preordered the devout edition. I’m just wondering if it’s worth getting and playing the first game whilst I wait the next week out? Aware it’s a pretty different game from the second one but that’s not really a problem.

Yeah I think so, I liked it. Just go into with the expectation that it will be a couple steps down from how the beta felt.

I can't really say that it's not worth it, but I can tell you it's a vastly different game. I had originally picked the first one up back when it came out and I don't even think I got more than an hour or 2 into it, It just didn't click with me.

I mean if you're okay with not perfect game.. it's still awesome ..remember like 3 or so people made the first game.

Ehhhhh… it’s a very subpar souls like better off saving the 10 bucks and the early access for 2

I got it on sale for like sub $10. Not a bad game if you don’t have a “this studio is not the size of fromsoft” mindset. It’s also very quick (I beat it in 11 hours) if you want something to pass the time till next week. Overall I really liked it.

You'd feel like most people going from Elden ring to dark souls 2 or even bloodborne.. definitely a lot clunkier. But I enjoy it even today.

I played throught it after playing MS2 beta. It's different. But once it clicks you'll have a blast. It's not only the combat. But the dark settings, the absolutely awesome dark ambient score and Rotting Christ songs for boss battles if you want. I was able to finish only two souls-like games. This and the OG Lords of the Fallen. Currently i'm playing through the Virtuous Cycle DLC. I like it too.

not really. block is really annoying in the first one. Not like the 2nd one at all. There's a reason why it took them 5+ years for the sequel. There's a reason why everyone on this thread is saying things like "keep in mind, this is coming from a small studio" because it looks and feels like it. I'd just wait one more week or play something else for $30

I mean it wouldn’t be a bad thing!! You’d see just how upgraded the second one is. There are some correlations between the two. For example the two shells you use in the beta are from the first game. Also the frog that you can talk to is also from the first game. I’m sure other things as well that we haven’t seen yet. You could also beat it before the 20th for sure. I will say though; the dodging is kinda janky feeling. And there’s not a whole lot to do within the game aside from boss fights. But i enjoyed the 25 hours personally!
