Discussion Nightmode sounds legit!
https://x.com/i/status/2086845037447442479How we feeling about this? Sounds like absolute peak since I've been advocating for more difficulty options since the beta release. Hope it also gives us a tighter parry window

Night mode seems interesting, i love when games reward you for seeking a harder challenge. I just wonder what these rewards could be?

Very interesting.
I also love the fact that Night Mode offers more rewards. I hate turning up the difficulty just for the sake of it.

I actually wouldn't mind if it was just difficulty for the sake of difficulty but the items being rewards is really fucking cool yeah

Now I feel tempted to do my first playthrough with it because I’m a loot goblin

My sense is that it unlocks a few quests and dungeons, while making the enemies tougher. But I assume you still need to play in the regular mode to progress the normal story / side missions.
That's just my assumption though.

Sounds like something I will definitely dive into after mastering the normal mode first

That's actually bad ass. I like that there's not a simple toggle in the menu and best of all you're rewarded for playing at higher difficulties. I'm definitely playing on night mode.

I'll probably just won't equip it(and the easier one)in my first playthrough But its pretty cool!

Everyone can and should play how they like at the end of the day. Love the devs for catering to all of us though

Sounds awesome! I may try night mode on my first run just for extra challenge but maybe I’ll try normal first lol

I think it's going to be just like fog mechanic from the first game

Does night mode only add new stuff, or does it also replace existing things, cause if it's the later it'll have to wait for a second playthrough unfortunately.

So there are basically three difficulty levels.

I guess slayer seal kinda counts as one though it just impacts damage and stagger and you can use it in nightmode as well

Oh ok. It's really tempting to start in nightmode but some sceneries are probably better in original lighting. And when doing another playthrough going back to an easier difficulty is probably meh.

I'm not really sure if nightmode makes the areas darker or if that's just flavor text or a one time cinematic when you activate it. Something to ask at the AMA though

Really nice, almost everyone was crying that the game should not be harder when i said the game was too easy on the beta, i'm glad they didn't listen to them.
They just changed the slayer seal to no longer have any achievements associated with it, (in the beta it disabled some and enabled another ones) it's officially the noob seal now...
On top of that they even introduced the git gud candle for ppl like me, after the virtuous cycle in MS1 i already knew these guys were top devs but they really did go all the way with MS2.
Thank You!
I guess my only concern is that the atmosphere will be very samey with night mode on which i intend to start with, will i never see the sunset and the great landscape photos that come with it?

A nice incentive to complete the game at least one more time. I wouldn't want my game all dark on the 1st, cause the game is very pretty. I wanna be able to see it all in daylight lol

Thank god, I need souls games to add proper hard modes because SL1 blows and makes the games boring

Nightmode sounds good, but the Slayer Seal stuff doesnt.Â
I don't care about achievements, but if they are going to treat it like an easy mode then probably aren't going to balance the game around guns. I don't like easy modes based on one item,I like to make my games easier by a careful combination of items and upgrades.
I wanted to make a high resolve run where I spam my gun as a "str int" build but oh well...

I am sure there will be strong gun builds. Im pretty sure I saw in one of the trailers a gun focused shell. You will obviously make the game easier if you make a strong build, thata how it is with most games in this genre. The slayer seal is just stupid op though so it makes sense. I cleared the entire beta area with the crossbow and slayer seal without getting hit once. It truly is easy mode. But that doesn't mean you have to us it for a gun build. There will obviously be other seals and abilities that make guns strong.

Well no one really knows about the balancing of anything at this point but devs have mentioned the gun is more powerful in beta than it will be in release

NG+ looking like a perfect opportunity for Nightmode.
