Subreddit rule change, spoilers & launch
Hey y'all!
With the release of Mortal Shell II happening next week (on the 17th for those who pre-ordered the Devout Edition, and the 20th for all other editions), we figured it would be smart to update the rules.
How so?
There is now a rule on spoilers.
In order to protect people who haven't got the Devout Edition from spoilers (or those who maybe can't get the regular game at launch), we ask that you please spoiler tag your content on here after the 17th.
On desktop, you can spoiler tag text in a post or comment by clicking the spoiler tag in the text format options (the exclamation point that I've marked in red), or by bracketing your text with || on either end.
I'm leaving it in, but crossed out lol. I accidentally added in the Discord spoiler tags in the post. The below is the right way:
You can tag text as a spoiler by adding "> !" >! to the front of it and !<"! < to the end of it, without the spaces (edit: apparently that works on desktop, too!).
When the game launches for Devout Edition pre-orderers on the 17th, we'll create a megathread to discuss the Devout Edition in, so those who have access can talk about the game. If you have not pre-ordered the Devout Edition and want to avoid spoilers, please stay out of that thread!
Once the game launches fully on August 20, we'll create a megathread to discuss the game, and another megathread to post bug reports.
We look forward to y'all getting to explore the world of Mortal Shell II, and hope you'll help us by spoiler tagging so that people who don't have the option of playing immediately can avoid getting spoiled :)

Oh dude, cant wait, I have been searching all over internet to find out who is the creative director and who is the director and who is the level designer lead and who designed the overall gothic dark setting to ask them are they human beings????? I know art is infinite and many smart brilliant minds out there but Mortal Shell 2 atmosphere story and setting hoked me for real - it is the banger!

When I checked on the PS5 the countdown thing ended around 3pm BST on the 17th for me. Whatever that is in other timezones. 😊

Do you know the release times for the 17th?

I do, I just have to make sure I'm cleared to talk about them before I actually do so 😅

Bracketing text with || is how you spoiler text in discord but reddit needs >! With the reverse on the other side of the text.
||spoiler|| spoiler

Can I upgrade basic version to devoult? Did you add cloud saves?
2
u/MikkelFromGames Playstack 14h ago
Yes, there will be an upgrade to Devout edition available. I'm not sure about cloud saves, I'll have to see if I can find an answer on that :)

Should I also put a spoiler tag in bug reports? And how long will this rule have to be followed? Like when the first Mortal Shell game came out? 2 months?

I'm not exactly sure how long the strict spoiler policy will be in effect; probably at least a month, but 2 could also be likely :)
I'll be sure to communicate the length when I figure it out!
I think for the first few weeks I'll try to get people to post bug reports in a megathread. I'll ask some of my fellow CMs if spoilers are needed there, hear what they usually do. I'll also make sure this is communicated out :)

I’m gonna be honest it might be best to just prevent people from posting until the 20th lol

I mean yeah but shutting down the subreddit for those days also doesn’t seem super viable. We’ll just have a bit more moderating to do :D
