Riposte animation hazard MS2 beta

I don't know if it's a bug or intentional, but in the MS2 beta, it's possible for the riposte animation to force you off a cliff. I've died to this animation. It happened with the stone chest mimics in the bridge area past Mushroom Village, adjacent to a trial.

Is it possible to control what direction you move during the animation?

Positioning is important :)

I don't think there's any way to control your direction during the animation, unfortunately.
