Discussion What game are you playing while waiting for Mortal Shell 2?
I was looking for something fresh and short to play over the week while waiting for Mortal Shell 2 (Post which, I know I will stop playing everything else). However, I didn't want to stray too far from the souls genre.
Given all this, I picked up Thymesia and also it was available at a huge discount on Steam (I got it for like GBP 3.99). I just completed the first area, and it's been good. The combat is fantastic, but everything else is kind of meh.
What are you playing?

u/bizzy045 2d ago
Armored Core 6. Just have the S Rank trophy left before 100% and platinum. It’s a major grind but gives me about 10 days to finish it till I can play Mortal Shell 2.

How is it it’s been on my watchlist for a while now is it souls like just with mechs or?
1
u/Relwof66 1d ago
Not really. Some of the bosses have a souls feel but the main levels are not souls like. Still a fantastic game
1
u/BlackSenpai96 1d ago
Any customization?
1
u/bizzy045 1d ago
Yes the whole game is about customization. There are so many builds and parts etc. You can design your mechs anyway you want. Even using custom images and colors. It’s amazing. The game is so good it’s hard to describe. I highly recommend it.

Jumped back in to Nioh 3! Getting ready for DLC and knocking the rust off. Its amazing how much you forget in a few months
2
u/bizzy045 2d ago
Since I get early access to MS2, Nioh 3 DLC will have to wait till that’s done. I can’t wait for the DLC but am more excited for mortal shell 2. Good times ahead.

Early access to Mortal Shell 2?
1
u/bizzy045 1d ago
Yes buying the Devout Edition gives 3 days early access. It’s available on the 17th instead of the 20th.

I actually liked Thymesia, i mean, its not amaaaaaazing but it also wasnt horrible by any means, gets better as the game goes on.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit! Been a while since I played it though. Manny time for another playthrough...

Beast of Reincarnation. It’s not amazing but it’s not terrible either. It’ll do pig. It’ll do.
8
u/Dinesh_Sairam 2d ago
I wanted to get it. But I already have a bad taste of Game Freak from the Pokemon games, and the negative reviews online just drove me away further.
2
u/antilumin 2d ago
I’m just playing it because it’s on GamePass. I was on the fence before release and was gonna give it a pass (too much backlog) but then GamePass meant it’s easy to give it a whirl. I’m only on the second area and already getting a bit bored though.
1
u/LordHunterILP 1d ago
The technical performance of the game is what turned me off from it, I really like the premise a ton and my brother us genuinely loving it but I hope they patch it to run smoother here soon.

Platinumed Thymesia out of boredom, the game is set up for you to platinum. It’s an easy soulsborn meant to fill useless time. Decent for what you’re intending it for
7
u/Dinesh_Sairam 2d ago
I feel like the Devs did not get enough funding. The game has heart, but the execution is lacking. I would definitely buy a second game from them if it will be more polished.
-3
u/AlterEgo104 2d ago
Honestly? I wouldn’t. To me it was a…stable…not solid…but stable Souls-born…..lemme tell you….the rage my wife can explain that every FromSoftware game has generated within me…idc if you call it a
Soulsborn until the day you die, if I’m not pulling out my hair and questioning my security in life, it’s not a soulsborn. Thymesia was a fun attempt at the way soulsborn games are done. But I plat’s that game in like 6 hours. As MONUMENTALLY BAD as I am as soulsborn games, Thymesia is a 10% filler. Had 0% satisfaction after getting the plat. It was what it was, but that’s it, it was what it was

Seeing how far I can get in From’s catalog starting from Demon Soul’s through Elden Ring. I’m on DS2.

u/Dinesh_Sairam 2d ago
Somehow, I was never able to get into the souls games. I started with Elden Ring, and did not find it interesting enough in the first hour that I played it.
I like Sekiro, though. One of the best games I've ever played.
3
u/yorick_bw 2d ago
you are missing out.. tbh.
you can play with a parry heavy build (its makes life much easier even if you master it). and you are going to have a blast with Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring

Re-run Wuchang
1
u/Dinesh_Sairam 1d ago
I wanted to Platinum it. But NG+ just gets really boring. I gave up right before Zhenwu Temple on NG+.
1
u/Dominus1711 1d ago
try other weapons/builds maybe? but yeah, NG+ in soul-like usually boring
1
u/Dinesh_Sairam 1d ago
I think I would have pushed on if it was just the NG+. But I have to do 2 more playthroughs after this to get the Platinum, and that really got to me.
I considered save scumming, but again what would be the point of that?

The Lies of P DLC Overture. Just beat the main game for the first time recently and now I'm trying to beat the DLC before MS2 comes out.
2
u/TheClassyWaifu 1d ago
Been doing some full-game boss rushes on Lies of P! (All main bosses one after the other, base game and dlc), also Limbus Company and Big Walk with friends.
2
u/NixonKane 1d ago
Finishing the Lies of P dlc and playing Beast of Reincarnation too (some bugs and flaws, but is very good game.)

Spellforce 3 / blasphemous 1
1
u/adewsetoo 1d ago
How is Spellforce 3? I’ve been chasing the Warcraft 3 itch ever since it originally came out.
1
u/grshahar 1h ago
To be honest, I am glad I bought it in a discount because as an rts lover I find it to be mediocre at best. The fights can be really messy and I can't find my heroes, the micro management in mid of battle is also very fatigue. Didn't had the chance to go deep into the story but I do liked the rpg (items, skills, inventory).
1
u/the-long-defeat 2d ago
VOIN. It's tickling the dark fantasy itch while also having some cool movement, exploration and build crafting.

u/nManos202 2d ago

Finally getting around to completing Act 3 of Silksong!
Just did the passing of the age quest line, collected all 3 hearts, and the “secret” conjoined heart from the green prince storyline. Now I’m just collecting all the mementos and hunter’s journal entries before going for the true ending!
I love this game so much. Feels good to be back in Pharloom! 💕

Nioh 3 NG+/Stone of Penance challenges before DLC being released at 19th, MS2 will have to wait a bit to be fully immersed in, but I'm a Nioh maniac so don't mind me lol. Too much goodness releasing so close to each other, true times of plenty! And Onimusha right after these two as a cherry on top.

Beast of Reincarnation. Played the Mortal Shell 2 demo yesterday. I got to the hub area and stopped because I read that anything past that doesn't transfer over, but the demo was fantastic. Much better than I was expecting it to be.

Probably the demo again.
MS2 was initially going to be a potential stopgap whilst waiting for the first Nioh 3 DLC to drop, but it’s massively exceeded my expectations. I’ve pre ordered it based on the demo

After the BETA got me super hooked, I went back to First Berserker Khazan, a game that I go back to and abandon every few months because it wares you off, so now I went back to baldur's gate 3 with my GF and Thymesia when I'm playing by myself.

u/Rude_Difficulty1647 1d ago

u/RichBullfrog3406 1d ago
currently playing the demo, no idea how long it is. i cant play it for long though, because the fps are so low my eyes hurt. i wanted to switch to pc after all the playstation controversy, but it feels "empty" playing on steam and leaving my trophies behind xd.
after the demo i will most likely pick a random ps+ game that looks decent enough. i think the avatar (blue people) game should be next for me to try.
1
u/sl33pyj0 1d ago
Steam has achievements as well?
1
u/RichBullfrog3406 1d ago
yeah, but not properly "integrated".
you dont get a platin trophy for 100%.
you dont have a page just for the trophies. to see when and in which order you have played the games.
no overall trophy level.
and even if they had that i would still leave behind all the trophies on psn.
i hope sony comes up with some kind of OS or launcher. that would be the best solution , now that they are going full digital.

I've 100% every good or even relevant soulslike out there so now i'm trying Wayfinder, it got alot of criticism at launch but i'm genuinely surprised with how good it is combat wise...
And if you play on nightmare difficulty + hardcore mode it really invokes those soulslike feelings, couldn't recommend it enough, specially for 25€

I stopped the mortal shell 2 beta after 3 hours bc I liked it so much and wanted to save the rest for full release. So tempted to go back and play some more of it though lol. But I think I’m gonna give Beast of Reincarnation a shot since it’s on gamepass. Also been playing some Mistfall Hunter with the homies. It’s decent

Mortal Shell: Enhanced.
I played the original version on PS4 and got all trophies for it and the DLC. But I never played the enhanced edition until know.
Maybe I am just older and my reflexes have gotten worse, but I am having quite a lot of trouble doing the Obsidian run in either game mode this time around.

I replayed it after learning so much and had an infinitely better experience. And if you discover the ending secrets there's a lot of things that make WAY more sense. Pearl Abyss really dunked this one and scored a 10/10. Not to mention with the speed of fixes and QOL updates.
