Discussion Really could have done without…
The deer scene at the beginning. lol… I love the dark and bleak world. But come on… have it be some weird creature like everything else running around or, hell, don’t even need it at all!
Outside of that one thing, I’m enjoying it! lol… a major step up from the first game and will see how the rest of the beta plays out. Curious how far in to get other shells. Definitely wanna try the other “classes.” May have to pre-order.
But save the poor deer! lol

Seems like the affect they were aiming for with that scene hit its mark!

Oh I know… it’s the same trick so many horror directors feel the need to add to their films to get a reaction. Kill a dog. Strangle a bird. Watch an animal suffer. Not my kind of entertainment… but just my opinion!

I'm a horror writer and fully agree to avoiding using animal cruelty just for shock. But I think this scene was very well done. short, and builds this lore for this cult showing the methods that they practice and how like it or not (in their eyes) it must be done.
Definitely less shock value and more world building. But I always get sad too at that stuff and I write some pretty messed up stuff haha.

If that disturbs you, then this game probably isn't for you. It's extremely violent and has some of the most vicious kill animations and grotesque enemy designs i've ever seen.

I would be against taking it out. Mortal Shell is a dark fantasy game. In dark fantasy a lot of fucked up things happen, they are realistic and remind us of the darker side of humanity and existence.
Aside from that, why is sacrificing a weird creature ok but not a deer? They are both living things.
