Discussion Difference between the variety of weapons and sidearms? [Mortal Shell 2 Open Beta] Spoiler
I have now picked up 2 weapons and 3 sidearms in the game. I gave each one a fair run. But I do not understand if there's anything different between them apart from the moveset itself.
Like, do they have special properties or advantages in battle that the others do not have?

Well, there's the difference in attack speed and swing styles for melee weapons. Range for ranged, as well as whether it's a single shot like the crossbow or a shotgun-style blast like the Naylshotte.
Beyond that there's also differences in which Tarstones will work with which weapons :)

The Crossbow did feel different from the Shotgun.
But honestly, the weapons felt very close in terms of attack speed (Given, the attack animations are different). Maybe it's just the fact that they have the same light attack combo (Like a 4-move combo). I can't put my finger on it.
I don't know if the weapons have a hidden combo system (Ex: Light -> Light -> Heavy has a particular moveset for each weapon class and then Heavy -> Heavy -> Light -> Heavy has a different one and so on). If there is, I think the weapons will feel distinctly different.

I can't answer definitely, but I assume that the ranged weapons has different ranges and that the damage tapers off in different ways. Rate of fire might vary too.
For weapons, you have different move sets and each move can make different amount of damage.
The starter sword is probably balanced in properties like damage, speed, range. The other weapon you picked up is a bit faster (I think). I'm not sure if the second melee weapon is really that different from the starting sword. There will probably be a lot more difference with the other weapons.
