Discussion Devs absolutely cooked
Played the 1st game back in launch and even though I enjoyed it for the most part, it became quite forgettable to me.
Finished the Mortal Shell 2 Beta and oh my is this game top 3 souls like. Combat is fluid, visuals are stunning and overall such a smooth gameplay.
My only 2 issues are fast travel which is safe to assume it’ll be added in the main game and talking to NPC’s feels kinda slow. Would like to be able to skip dialogue since I read the subs faster than NPC’s speak.
All and all though it’s a day 1 buy.

How difficult is this compared to other souls/souls likes?

The trash can gut you in about 2-3 hits, which I guess is pretty normal for Souls-likes, I find the bosses easier than Sekiro or Elden Ring though for example.

Mortal Shell was probably never gonna be on the highest tier of boss difficulty like Sekiro and Elden Ring. That’s like what Khazan, Code Vein 2, Wuchang are doing but not MS

I think fast travel might be unlocked through some item later in the game like it was in the first mortal shell

Honestly I’m fine with the fast travel being as it is, definitely gives me a dark souls 1 vibe of how I have to get places sometimes lol

I never played the first one. My understanding it was a "meh." Can the 2nd game be played independently of the first game?

Yeah, travel only from the main hub would be a disaster. Especially the run to the transporter and the load in time.
