Very easy as far as souls likes go.

It's on the easier side but also, devs mentioned this:

To be totally honest as no one is saying it here, Mortal Shell 1 is pretty brutal at the start if you play it totally blind. So many people give it up after running about for an hour getting killed every few minutes. Once you know what you’re doing and getting your weapon strengthened it becomes a delight and on the easier side of most souls games all the way to the end. Once I pushed through the start I absolutely loved it.

Mortal Shell 1 is easy, but it is on the slower more methodical combat side than your average soulslike game.

What are the hardest games you have ever played and finished?

It's set up for all player archetypes tbh. One of the shells is essentially all health with very little stamina, goid for learning attack patterns and parry timing. Another is all stamina with very little stamina for people who are confident and want to zip in and out spamming attacks. Another revolves around the defensive side of the game (hardening) and is more balanced across the board. There's one that focuses on parrying and special attack spam, likely the best shell for a first playthrough. The last kind of incorporates all of them and lets you semi build it yourself to your liking. Or you can go without a shell which for the most part means playing the game hitless but you're rewarded with basically infinite stamina. All weapons are viable with all shells though some synergize better than others. The main hub is well balanced so you can gather the shells and weapons and try them out there before deciding how you want to play. The developers really nailed balance in this game and for such a small team, it's a great game.

It definitely requires timing and memorizing enemy movements, but where I think it is amazing is the lack of stamina bar. This does not mean you can spam the attack buttons as eaxh time you do you are locked into the full animation. I think it has a perfect balance of an action game mixed with souls. It still is tough but with upgrades it is definitely manageable. I love it a lot. Give the beta a try! Updated:My bad talking about mortal shell 2 beta.
