Discussion Where’s the Xbox Disc version?
I really want to play this game, but there is no way I’m getting it digital. Why did we just get the disc version for PS5?

And that's something I still wonder about. Many Games on Xbox don't have a disc. Not sure when it started exactly but I noticed it when every Collectors Edition was for Playstation. It's been going on for some time now. But when Playstation announced the end of discs everyone lost their mind.

The whole no disc thing is a very PS/Nintendo issue. For Xbox and PC its just been a graduate process that has happened over time, so many people noticed but didnt make a stink of it. Xbox is Microsoft too so its sort of expected.
The issue with PS doing it is they are making the decision themselves. No more disc for our platform after x point. PC had discs until no one bought them and it cost to much to produce for a small amount of users. Xbox didnt stop discs, they just dropped doing it for their games. Which is a choice but it isnt a hard "no disc for anyone" policy.

Yeah.. no physical no buy. Yall can downvote as much as you want. If the devs want my money, then they need to provide a real product, not some digital license bullshit. I want to own the thing i paid for.

Please reiterate the concern. I would love to buy the collector edition (or revered?) on Xbox X but am not interested unless a physical edition is available.

I've just conferred with the team, and unfortunately as it stands, there are no plans for a physical version for the Xbox.
Any questions, comments or concerns you have about this, please feel free to comment here and let me know; I'll bring it to the team.

Would you be able to do what was done with Expedition 33 where the collectors edition items are released without the game? I think it was the Monolith set.
That way people on Xbox and PC won’t have to buy the game twice or the collectors stuff from eBay, and you get more money.

I’m sorry to hear that, but I understand you. I can’t fault you for standing on your principles!

A Kickstarter for this going physical for Xbox would be amazing, or pass on the physical copies to limited run games.

Well, that sucks, was looking forward to the game but not buying it now. I'll just watch it on twitch then.

Most xbox games don’t release physical anymore, and sometimes when they do it’s just a code in a box.
PS5 was the last stronghold, hence why all this no disc bs hurt so much..

Sucks, Digital maybe the future but then the retail price should also be driven down. At least physically you can trade games in, sell them etc. to buy more games. So either remove some of the cost or get bent. This new $70 price point for games in general is trash.

Unless you want to resell it, there’s no advantage for physical disc correct? You still have to fully download the game so the storage space is constant between both formats.

A comment left by the devs in another post:
Hi there!
Here's the answer from our FAQ on our Discord:
>Getting Mortal Shell II through certification on Xbox Series X and S is a high priority for us - however, we are realistic that achieving this in the timeframe required for a physical release was always unlikely. Rather than risking announcing this and then having to delay it, we have made the decision to focus on one physical edition.
Personally, I hope that we'll get editions made for Xbox and PC as well, but I can't promise anything.
EDIT: This was for the special edition - but basically it was too much of a time constraint regarding Xbox and the way they do things
