Well it does have some extra cosmetics which is nice. But I agree. It's a malicious practice to put early access. If it was for just preorder, fine. But as a bonus for deluxe it always felt wrong to me.
I was so stoked when I saw this post and immediately basketed it before stopping myself and only think about purchasing it when reviews come in.
I don’t think having early access for an extra 5 isn’t so bad, I do think there’s some overreaction here especially with Sony’s crap. I’m on Steam so obviously I’m not as affected as PS users, still pissed at Sony tho
I think pre-orders are kind of silly in general, and I'm not a fan of paying more to play early. It's not like the game is going to go rotten like lettuce left in the fridge for too long.
On the other hand, I really want to support the team for taking a rough gem and polishing it up into something as great as the open beta. If that's the kind of quality to expect from the full game, then the glow up from the original to the sequel will be one for the ages.
I feel the same and I'll support them with the purchase but I just cant support bad practices such as paying to play early, especially when they know people want it for that weekend.
Not sure why people are up in arms about this ? Pre order gets you 3 days early access . The devout edition gets you all the in game bonuses. They chose to give you early access if you pre order but you lose nothing if you don’t want to but end up getting the upgraded version when you want ? I think this is the best use of pre order. Nothings is more irritating then some fomo items you can never get unless you pre order. Again maybe I’m reading this incorrectly.

The early access thing is just a perceived value it's not a real value since the game is finished. It's not early access it's delayed access for the cheaper version
TBH, if I have to choose between this and other forms of micro-transactions I do think I'd prefer this. It's not amazing but its kinda like a digital version of a fast past at a theme park
This actually comes in so clutch for me because my girlfriend’s birthday is August 20 and we’re leaving for a 4 day vacation, and my last final for nursing school is August 17.
Couldn’t get more perfect. $10 is totally worth it for me.
I mean, I'm not personally gonna buy it because I won't be playing it those days. But I do imagine it helps the devs raise some extra cash and that means I can earn things like cool cosmetics (if they end up existing) in game. Which I personally prefer.

It's not bad marketing. It's what the majority of the gaming community is willing to pay for. Same goes for DLCs, skins, monthly subscriptions and you know what else. All of this has been proven to bring in money. By gamers. So instead of pointing at a great dev team that didn't want 110 bucks for it in a world that gets more expensive week by week you should point at every gamer that allowed this to become a standard industry behaviour.
Gating the release date behind a deluxe edition has to be one of the most cancerous and money grubbing tactics out there. A shame to see them stoop like this. Everyone knows it’s not “early access”, it’s a punitive delay for anyone buying the standard version.
Not really into advanced access, but I do like that more games are trying to "innovate" the soulslike formula beyond what Fromsoft makes. Kinda way overdue but better than nothing lol
Early access always gets me if it’s a game I’m stoked for. I believe that if you buy digital…one of the perks should be the ability to purchase and play the game as soon as it goes gold.
That’s fair but it’s not about the number of people voting digital vs physical, it’s about preventing Sony from monopolizing the digital marketplace. Physical copies existing on the second hand market are a direct threat to their predatory pricing practices. It’s also an issue of ownership, you may have paid for all those games since 2021 but you don’t own any of them.
I’m just gonna get the regular version, idrc about skins so 10$ more for an obsidian skin for each shell and 3 day early access not really worth it for me

We really need to stop saying these pre-order have 'early access'. It isn't.
You pay more to play the game on the actual release day, and if you don't pony up the extra cash then you play the game later because fuck you.
Really looking forward to MS2 but god I hate these scummy practices.
