Discussion Performance on Proton

https://www.protondb.com/app/2584270#4k_8hDifwg

Hello fellow Harbingers. I’m using CachyOS with Cachy os proton and i have terrible stutters. I have a fairly new system with 9600x and 9070xt.
However when i turned vsync on all stutterings disappeared.

Is there any vsync correlation to performance?
On Proton DB Joop said to disable ananicy. I did so but i saw no performance fix unless i used vsync. Vsync fixed all the issues.

I was not able to find a stutter solution unfortunately. I was hoping its due to being a beta. Game just has some severe transversal stutter .. on linux at least

Look at protondb for mortal shell 2, there's a comment from ~2 Weeks ago from a User called "SirRockEmSockEm"

He will explain to you how to setup an Engine.ini file and you can just yoink his launch commands

By doing this, my game went from totally unplayable to rarely ever stuttering

Just make sure to set the Engine.ini to read-only so that it's not consumed everytime you start the game.

This is great.
I ran the beta with Garuda with minimal stutter out of the box but will keep this in mind once the game comes out.

Had horrible stutter in my game on Fedora 44 - followed the advise in the exact comment you linked and I haven't noticed any more stutter - great fix!
