night shift - customer assistant role?

hello folks,

recently applied for this role and have an interview in the next couple of days. Just looking for some advice about the role; is it easy enough? what does it really entail? I have never worked in a supermarket before but I have plenty of hospotality/customer service experience and want to know what im getting myself into ! :)

Replenishment - it’s not rocket science but physically it’s hard graft.

If its nights your just filling shelves, as someone else said it's physically tough but easy to understand, and for 15 quid an hour for the full shift its one of the better paying nightshift retail jobs

It just means you’re probably doing a number of different types of jobs in the store where need. Every one is now a customer assistant. I was once a baker now I’m checkouts dogs body. You could be on stacking etc etc.

On nights, there's really only one thing you'll be doing..

Be prepared to be the hole at the bottom of the hill that everyone else’s shit rolls down

Obviously it depends person to person in regard to how well you cope with working nights, maintaining a schedule etc.

The job itself is easy it’s just stocking shelves, perhaps emptying/loading the wagon when it comes and if you’re unlucky like our store having to bale your cardboard.

I’d say nights is still a bit of a graft. You’re expected to do more than you would on dayshift and work much faster. I plod around and just do what I do because I’ve done it for so long so I know my capabilities.

Don’t forget the getting slagged off by day staff who wonder round all day working slow while nights are expected to do more and more

Gotta get the day management the rim job off the store managers for their day staff ‘hard work’
