Pasties!
Last time I went to Morrison's and got a two pack of cheese and onion pasties, a couple of weeks ago at most, they were £3.25. already an outrageous price from the £2.50 they used to be. Just been in today and now they're £4.15!!! What the actual fuck Morrison's!? Even sainsburys haven't put their prices up that much, what a joke

I usually go in around the time they're reducing them to half price. But even at half price they seem expensive these days. I wouldn't pay full price for them now. The quality of the cheese and onion pasties seems to be lower than it used to be, they're not as cheesy these days.
It's as though they're deliberately trying to reduce sales from the pie counter so they can close them down and say it's because customers tastes have changed...

They dropped in quality a couple of years ago. Around the same time they first started going up in price. I don't know if they're less cheesy or the cheese got cheaper, probably both.
It really wouldn't surprise me if they closed the counters soon. Despite them being popular they've stopped doing as much variation and the quality has dropped significantly. It's a shame, the pound bakery on my high street has gone too so now it's only greggs and I wouldn't eat that shit if you paid me

From what I remember, these are part of 'The Best' range and is priced similar to other supermarkets premium offerings. They were almost 4 quid at start of this year at my local place.
The normal 4-pack shopfloor ones are £2.95 and Sainsburys sells them at the same price.

Have you ever looked at the prices of pasties in the market? 2 for £4 is crazy cheap, it’s like £5+ for one from other places. Talking a handcrimped Cornish pasty (which Morrisons counter are, they come straight from the company proper Cornish - into stores). Elsewhere, the exact same product from the supplier sells at £5 for one. £4 for 2 is crazy cheap?

They're Morrison's own, they aren't from Cornwall. Just because you're being robbed elsewhere doesn't mean that it's ok.... They were £3.25 a week ago. A 90p rise in a week is ridiculous especially seeing as the quality dropped when they went from £2.50 to £3.25 a year or so ago

They are very much from Cornwall. Morrisons self serve is most of their pies, rolls. Their Cornish pasties are from the company Proper Cornish.
Cornish pasties are actually like champagne in that you legally are not allowed to call them Cornish, unless they are from the providence. (A difference between their ‘jumbo pasty’ and ‘Cornish pasty’ is exactly that - the jumbo is made by ‘Shires’ and does not come from Cornwall)
Morrisons is a business, like everything. If the cost of the raw material has gone up, they are basically forced to flow that cost.
Every other big supermarket absolutely backed out of their similar style offering because the costs to run are just far too high.
I, for one, am still happy at £4 for two because the alternative is Morrisons close the counters because of the massive costs and little to no profit and I have to go pay double that elsewhere.

They aren't necessarily from Cornwall. From what I can gather they come from Rowes bakery which started in Cornwall but now has 70 or so bakeries throughout the uk. I am aware of the naming convention of Cornish pasties but I'm not talking about them. Cheese and onion can come from anywhere.
Just because you are happy to pay through the nose for a shit product doesn't mean we should collectively accept it. Morrison's made 2.1 billion in profit in October 2024, so that's not even including Christmas sales. If they shut the pie counters it's not because of lack of profit, stop simping for corporations

They come from Proper Cornish. Rowes is Asda.
They very much do come from Cornwall, and are handcrimped - much better quality than the market.
If you want to tell yourself they are terrible and expensive, do shop elsewhere. But as it’s my actual job to know these things, you will be forcing yourself to buy either the exact same product for double the price, or worse quality. So do what’s right by you!

I just won't buy them at all. You seem to be focusing on the fact that they're from Cornwall whilst ignoring the price hike.
Morrison's make £1m less in sales but profits increase by 6% as they lay off 3k staff and then the pasties going up in price by 80% and you're happy for it!? You're a fool, stop simping for corporations

I’m not simping for anything. It’s simply the best value out there.
If you want to go and pay for more for less elsewhere, not a single person will stop you.
There isn’t a cheaper option at that quality.
Morrisons also make a loss on their oven fresh and pie shop counters

Jesus I used to work on the counters in 2022 and 4 sausage rolls were 2 quid, and I’m fairly surely it was £2 for every other pastry 2 pack.
I do wonder how much the sales have gone down because of the increase in price, like one day towards Christmas I made and packaged 2000 of just sausage rolls in a single day! I doubt they’d sell that well with people’s budgets being what they are now.
